Now, nearly a year later, there are talks of Ortiz stepping into the Bellator cage to square off against arguably the greatest fighter of all time, Fedor Emelianenko.

VK first reported the news, which also revealed that the fight would be held under the Bellator banner, and would be contested at heavyweight.

“According to one MMA news insider close to the leadership of the promotion – who wished to remain anonymous – it is currently working on the organisation of the fight between Fedor Emelianenko and Tito Ortiz.”

Emelianenko is coming off a majority decision win over Fabio Maldonado, which could be overturned to a draw. Following the win, Emelianenko revealed that he plans to continue fighting.
