Dana White discusses the possibility of Nate Diaz fighting at UFC 200

By Chris Taylor - April 27, 2016

Perennial lightweight contender Nate Diaz was expected to rematch current UFC featherweight champ Conor McGregor in a welterweight bout at this July’s UFC 200 event in Las Vegas.

Unfortunately for fight fans, McGregor refused to attend certain media obligations to promote the UFC 200 event and was thus pulled off the card by UFC officials.

Last week, Nate Diaz stated that if the fight with Conor McGregor did not get put together by the UFC,  he would be leaving for vacation and not fighting on the card.

UFC president Dana White was asked if Nate Diaz has been officially ruled out of July’s UFC 200 event during today’s press conference. White responded to the question with the following:

“We are going to offer him (Nate Diaz) some fights (at UFC 200) and see what he wants to do. I mean it sounded like he wants Conor and only Conor at the press conference. But we gave him the opportunity to come. You know he was there,  he flew in, we gave him the opportunity to come. And uhh, I didn’t want to umm… You know rip him off of the opportunity fight at UFC 200 if that’s what he wanted. So we will see what happens.”
