UFC veteran Dan Ige can’t wear red shorts for his upcoming fight – and he’s been given a pretty interesting reason why.

When you talk about fighters who are willing to put it all on the line, Dan Ige is right up there. He is an absolute warrior and he’s never been afraid to take on big challenges, and he’ll be doing the same when he goes up against Melquizael Costa next month.

In terms of the UFC as a whole, the promotion is entering a new era with Paramount. There are a lot of new production values set to be introduced as they start to get more comfortable in their position, but one thing that isn’t likely to change is the fight shorts deal, which Ige is currently finding out the hard way.

In a recent tweet, Ige had the following revelation to make about when he was trying to select his fight shorts for his next fight.

Ige voices shorts color concern

“Apparently I can’t wear red shorts (even though I have 3 times in my 20 @ufc fights) for my upcoming fight because USA does not have red. Even though Red symbolizes hardiness and valor in the American flag.  And my http://ancestry.com results aren’t enough to represent Japan. Anyone know what country camo is? Or pink? Or orange? @venum but I can wear purple??? Lol”
