Chuck Liddell defends comments on being able to defeat Mike Tyson

Harry Kettle - November 18, 2019

Chuck Liddell has clarified his previous comments regarding a potential fight between himself and heavyweight boxing legend Mike Tyson. Liddell was once known for being one of the scariest men on the planet during his prime with the Ultimate Fighting Championship. He was beating top contenders left, right and center, until all of a sudden, his career started to go downhill. His last outing came in 2018 when he was beaten by Tito Ortiz via first round knockout in their long-awaited trilogy fight.

Tom Taylor - November 13, 2019

If Chuck Liddell ever finds himself trading punches with Mike Tyson in a parking lot or alleyway, he’s confident he would come out on top. While the former UFC light heavyweight champ acknowledges the boxing legend would have a puncher’s chance, he believes a street fight would be his to win.

Dana White pleads with Chuck Liddell not to fight again

Adam Martin - November 4, 2019

UFC president Dana White praised UFC Hall of Famer Chuck Liddell as an incredible person and a great friend, but is pleading with him to never fight again. Liddell is now 49-years-old and suffered a brutal KO to Tito Ortiz last year in Golden Boy MMA’s first show. It was the seventh KO loss in Liddell’s legendary career. Despite the loss, however, Liddell is reportedly keeping the door open to fighting once again.

Natasha Hooper - October 3, 2019

Oscar De La Hoya recently sat down with the Barstool Radio team to discuss his big plans for a return to the MMA business, and his ongoing beef with UFC President Dana White. The former world champion boxer De La Hoya launched Golden Boy Promotions in 2002, and after many years of promoting boxing, expanded into the MMA industry in 2018. Golden Boy’s first and only MMA card thus far was headlined by a trilogy fight between Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz, which the latter won by knockout.

EXCLUSIVE | Antonio McKee opens up on training Chuck Liddell for Tito Ortiz rematch

Mike Straus - December 4, 2018

Antonio McKee coached Chuck Liddell for his comeback fight with Tito Ortiz. Unfortunately, this comeback didn’t end well for “The Iceman”, as he was stopped by Ortiz in the first round. Since then, Liddell and McKee have taken some blowback from the combat sports community. Having spent the last eight weeks with Chuck Liddell in the lead-up to the fight, McKee has grown fond of the Hall of Famer, so when the fans and media had harsh words for him, McKee wasn’t pleased.

Joe Rogan points out the main flaw in Chuck Liddell's fighting style

Tom Taylor - December 3, 2018

Chuck Liddell’s long-discussed return to the cage did not go as planned. Instead, the former UFC light heavyweight champion was knocked out by Tito Ortiz — a man he’d bested twice previously — in the very first round. With this outcome, the 48-year-old Chuck Liddell has now been knocked out in his last four fights. UFC color commentator Joe Rogan believes he knows why this has happened. He believes that, at the height of his career, Liddell was able to rely on the strength of his chin when chasing his own knockout victories. When his chin began to weaken, however, he did not adjust his style, and thusly found himself on the receiving end of violent knockouts more and more frequently.

Chuck Liddell receives indefinite medical suspension following KO loss to Tito Ortiz

Tom Taylor - November 28, 2018

Last weekend, former UFC light heavyweight kingpin Chuck Liddell returned from a hiatus of eight years to battle a fellow former champion in Tito Ortiz — a man he’d beaten twice before. Unfortunately for his fans, the 48-year old Chuck Liddell did not win this third fight, and was instead felled by a first-round punch. Heading into this contest, there was widespread discourse suggesting Chuck Liddell should not be allowed to fight — that he was too old, that he’d been out too long, that he’d received enough punishment, including the three knockout losses that originally drove him into retirement.

Tito Ortiz answers haters, explains why he accepted Chuck Liddell trilogy fight

Tom Taylor - November 27, 2018

Last weekend, in the main event of the first mixed martial arts card promoted by Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions, former UFC light heavyweight champ Tito Ortiz stepped into the cage with his arch rival Chuck Liddell for a third time. In this third fight, Ortiz finally got the victory over Liddell he’d been seeking, melting “The Iceman” with a first-round heater. Unfortunately, Ortiz’s long-awaited win over Chuck Liddell has been somewhat marred by controversy, as some members of the MMA community feel that the 48-year-old Chuck Liddell, who had not fought since a string of knockout losses initially forced his retirement eight years ago, should not have been anywhere near another fight.

Tom Taylor - November 25, 2018

On Saturday night, in the main event of Golden Boy Promotions’ first MMA event, former UFC light heavyweight champ Tito Ortiz picked up a long-awaited win over his arch rival Chuck Liddell, melting “The Icemen” with a first-round heater. While this was a feel-good win for Tito Ortiz, who had been knocked out twice previously by Liddell, it was a tough one to watch for many fans. Liddell, after all, is 48 years old, and had not fought in eight years, since a string of three consecutive knockout losses prompted UFC President Dana White to shepherd him into retirement.
