Arman Tsarukyan labels Charles Oliveira as a one-trick pony ahead of UFC 300: “He’s nothing special”
UFC fighter Arman Tsarukyan has given his thoughts on Charles Oliveira ahead of their clash at UFC 300.
For quite some time now, Arman Tsarukyan has been building himself up as an exciting new prospect in the UFC’s lightweight division. Next month at UFC 300, he’ll get the chance to secure his biggest win yet – and potentially even a title shot.
He’ll lock horns with former champion Charles Oliveira in what promises to be a titanic affair. Both men believe they are good enough to dethrone Islam Makhachev, but only one will (potentially) get the chance to do so later this year.
In a recent interview, Tsarukyan wasn’t shy when discussing what he considers to be the good and bad of Charles’ game.
Tsarukyan takes a shot at Oliveira
“Charles is good at one thing: taking his opponent’s back and choking him out from that position,” Tsarukyan said in a translated interview with Red Corner MMA. “He has long limbs, so he’s good at taking the back, locking the triangle and finishing the submission. But overall, he’s nothing special.”
“Yes, he has some tricks when pulling guard, but nothing extraordinary,” Tsarukyan said. “He’s got a great back-mount game where he chokes everybody out. This morning, we worked on these types of situations – what I should do if I get caught in that position. We’re working on it, but we shouldn’t let this happen in the fight.”
