BMF champion Charles Oliveira attempted to persuade newly minted UFC lightweight champ Justin Gaethje to let him skip the line.

Justin Gaethje pulled off a historic upset on the south lawn of the White House at UFC Freedom 250. Gaethje handed UFC lightweight titleholder Ilia Topuria his first career loss in an instant classic for as long as the fight lasted.

Gaethje’s ascent to the lightweight throne is the culmination of many ups and downs throughout the future UFC Hall of Famer’s career. Meanwhile, it was a shocking defeat for Topuria following a brutal knockout of Charles Oliveira last year.

Oliveira has since won Gaethje’s former title, the BMF belt, after outpointing Max Holloway at UFC 326. The former UFC lightweight champion Oliveira defeated Gaethje by submission in their UFC 274 headliner.

Despite top contender Arman Tsarukyan making the strongest case to be Gaethje’s next opponent, Oliveira believes he has the leverage to make his own argument for a title shot.

Charles Oliveira makes strong case for historic two-belt showdown vs. Justin Gaethje

In a recent tweet, Oliveira called out Gaethje after the latter’s historic win at UFC White House.

“BMF and UFC lightweight belt. Let’s make history. Deal?” Oliveira tweeted Monday.

“Winner takes all…[Justin Gaethje].”

As of this writing, Gaethje hasn’t responded to Oliveira’s tweet. Gaethje hinted he could potentially retire after UFC Freedom 250, but wouldn’t commit to deciding for his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan.

Gaethje lost the BMF belt by a last-second knockout against Holloway at UFC 300. He won the BMF title by knocking out Dustin Poirier in their UFC 291 rematch.

After defeating Holloway earlier this year, Oliveira could potentially make a strong case for another lightweight title shot or a rematch against Topuria following UFC White House. But Topuria suffered serious damage in his loss to Gaethje and could potentially be sidelined for the rest of the year.

That could open the door to Tsarukyan, Oliveira, and others making cases for a shot at Gaethje’s lightweight belt. If Gaethje chooses to retire instead of fighting either Tsarukyan or Oliveira, don’t be surprised if Oliveira is catapulted into a vacant title fight.
