Jorge Masvidal eyeing future ‘BMF against BMF’ fight with Justin Gaethje: “I will break his f*cking orbital”

Retired UFC fighter Jorge Masvidal really wants to fight the new ‘BMF’ titleholder Justin Gaethje.

‘Gamebred’ famously retired from MMA following a unanimous loss to Gilbert Burns last April. In the process, Jorge Masvidal vacated the symbolic ‘BMF’ championship. The Miami native won the gold with a 2019 stoppage win over Nate Diaz, but never defended it. Months later, the UFC announced plans to put the title on the line for Justin Gaethje vs. Dustin Poirier 2.

‘The Highlight’ was previously knocked out in their first meeting years prior. However, at UFC 291 last July, Justin Gaethje got his revenge with a second-round knockout victory over ‘The Diamond’. As a longtime training partner of Poirier, it was a rough sight for one Jorge Masvidal.

Now, Justin Gaethje will look to defend the symbolic championship at UFC 300 in April against Max Holloway. If he can get through ‘Blessed’, there’s a good chance he will meet Jorge Masvidal in the future. In a recent interview with Lowkick MMA, ‘Gamebred’ opened up on his plans to return.

There, Masvidal called for a future fight with Justin Gaethje. While the former title challenger has a lot of respect for ‘The Highlight’, he also believes that he can beat him if they step in the cage.

Jorge Masvidal calls for future fight against ‘BMF’ champion Justin Gaethje

“When I won the belt, Dana said it would be one of one.” Jorge Masvidal stated in a recent interview with Lowkick MMA discussing plans for his return. “The belt would be done, there would be no defending of it. So there was no talk about it, at least for me. But I think now, the temperature on that theme has changed you know? Now it’s a little different, they’re doing things a little different.”

He continued, “Justin’s very good, the dude he beat to get that belt is a stud, a f*cking killer in Dustin Poirier. But, I just feel like if you put BMF against BMF, you put me against [Justin] Gaethje in there, I will break his eye orbital and I will f*cking chop him up, man. So hopefully that can happen at some point.”

While Justin Gaethje is set to return to the UFC cage in April, Jorge Masvidal is reportedly booked as well. According to multiple reports, the former welterweight contender is set to face former rival Nate Diaz, in a boxing match later this year. However, neither man has confirmed that the fight is on as of now.

What do you make of these comments? Do you want to see Justin Gaethje vs. Jorge Masvidal? Who do you have winning in that potential matchup?
