MMA Community reacts to Francis Ngannou defeating Curtis Blaydes

A heavyweight collision between perennial division contenders Curtis Blaydes and Francis Ngannou headlined tonight’s UFC Beijing event. The bout served as a rematch, as Francis Ngannou had previously defeated Curtis Blaydes via second-round TKO (doctors stoppage) at UFC Fight Night 86 in April of 2016.

And if things go according to plan, he believes he’ll retire as the best wrestler in the history of the division. “If I’m not the best right now, today, I will be the best by the time I end my career,” Blaydes told MMAjunkie this week. “Because I’m going to end my career with at least 75 career takedowns.”

Former Cage Warriors champion “Meatball” Molly McCann will face Priscila Cachoeira at UFC on ESPN+ 5 in London on Mar. 16. The flyweight matchup was first reported by Combate and later confirmed by the UFC. McCann (7-2) will be searching for her first UFC victory after dropping her debut against Gillian Robertson at UFC Fight Night 130 in May. The loss not only snapped her six-fight win streak, but she missed weight by one pound over the 126-pound flyweight limit.
