On the upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter: Team Garbrandt vs. Team Dillashaw, UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt will coach opposite his former teammate, former UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw, in a highly anticipated ‘Redemption’ season featuring all stars from past seasons of the show.
Tensions are expected to run at an all-time high between the coaches throughout the course of the season given the history of the two men, and their impending fight at the end of the season for Garbrandt’s bantamweight strap.
Leading up to UFC 207, where Dillashaw fought John Lineker in a bantamweight #1 contender fight, and Garbrandt fought Dominick Cruz in a highly anticipated bantamweight title fight, Dillashaw took to social media to claim that he made Garbrandt quit during their old training sessions at Team Alpha Male. Garbrandt of course fired back by claiming that he had video footage of himself knocking Dillashaw out during a training session. After both men emerged from their respective scraps victorious, trash talk increased as the pair traded barbs back and forth in regards to the situation that allegedly occurred while Dillashaw was still training at Team Alpha Male in Sacramento.
While Garbrandt stated before UFC 207 that he would be happy to give Cruz an immediate rematch after he won the belt, the UFC decided to cash in on the hype of a Garbarndt vs. Dillashaw bout and book both men to coach on the upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter, which will feature all-stars from seasons passed.
So far no word yet as to when Garbrandt and Dillashaw will step into the Octagon together following the filming of the season.
