Longtime UFC women’s straight fighter Valerie Letournaeu has been on a bit of skid lately, going 0-3 over the course of the past year and a half as she had a 4-fight win streak snapped by Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 193 in a failed bid at the UFC women’s strawweight title. Following that, Letourneau made the move to flyweight for a ‘UFC Fight Night: Ottawa’ scrap with Joanne Calderwood, where she lost a one-sided fight where she was TKOd in the final round. Most recently, Letourneau dropped a split decision to UFC newcomer Vivaiane Pereira at UFC 206 in a catchweight bout after she was unable to make the contracted 116 pounds.

Last month, Valerie Letourneau and Joanne Calderwood kicked off the main card of ‘UFC Fight Night: 89’in the first ever UFC women’s flyweight fight. Unfortunately for Letourneau, in addition to losing the bout via 3rd round TKO, she also had a wardrobe malfunction that made headlines. The incident drew more criticism for Reebok, who has made numerous errors in apparel since their deal with the UFC.

Valerie Letourneau experienced some wardrobe malfunctions in her last fight with Joanne Calderwood that may or may not have been a factor in her TKO loss at UFC Fight Night 89. Letourneau said her odd reactions to being hit in the chest by Calderwood were because she was experiencing wardrobe malfunctions with her Reebok uniform.

Valerie Letourneau ran into some issues during her fight with Joanne Calderwood at UFC Fight Night 89 over the weekend. Letourneau was troubled with a wardrobe malfunction after Calderwood’s repeated strikes to her chest, which are completely legal. Now, after hearing Letourneau address the situation, it seems like her Reebok uniform may have played a major factor in her loss even though she clearly states that she isn’t making an excuse for losing the fight.

Calderwood and Letourneau will meet in Ottawa, Canada on June 18 at The Arena at TD Place in the UFC’s very first women’s flyweight bout.
