Tristan Hamm details reason for donating entire purse, promoting boxing event in Dubai

Influencer-turned-boxer Tristan Hamm wants to use his promotion to help others.
Hamm is a Canadian influencer who got into boxing a couple of years ago and is being trained by BJ Flores. He’s been competing under the Misfits brand, but also recently launched Hamm Promotions. He held an event on April 14 and returned to the win column with a first-round knockout win.
However, although Hamm cared about the result, he also wanted to use his platform for good and donated his entire purse so the event could happen, amid the wars in the Middle East.
“When they told me what was going on with ticket sales, everyone was refunding their tickets because of the conflict, because the tourists were leaving the country. This place is fine, so the goal was to get the locals to come,” Hamm said to BJPENN.com. “I said I’m down to fight, I’m down to donate my purse, and give back to the community. They found me an opponent in like 10-12 days. We sold out the event in nine days, which was crazy, and it was all locals, and a lot of them were first-time boxing fans.”

Hamm was able to help put on the event and said he donated his purse to help the businesses in need who were struggling amid all the tourists not going to Dubai amid the conflict.
“For me, because it’s a good cause, I was boots on the ground in Dubai, and Dubai was fine,” Hamm said. “There were all these businesses that were stressed, but nothing was happening. I just felt like, how can I go to Dubai and make an impact? Wherever I go, I always want to make an impact. I want to try to have a positive impact at every shot. The last event was all about mental health awareness.”
Hamm said he got Dubai influencers and businesses into the event, and multiple businesses said they were able to double their revenue since the event, which he’s proud of. But, now, the focus for Hamm turns back to his own boxing career, and he’s looking to return soon, and could be on a Misfits event.
“We have a couple of options. I got offered a fight in Germany, so we will see if the opponent wants it. That is in June, there is also an offer in July in the United States, both are Misfits. I’m very interested in doing these smaller shows a couple of times a year and being active,” Hamm concluded. “I’d like to get two more fights in this year and continue building and growing.”
