UFC Atlantic City Bonus Report: Nate Landwehr one of four fighters to take home $50k
The Octagon returned to New Jersey for tonight’s UFC Atlantic City event, a 14-bout fight card headlined by Erin Blanchfield vs. Manon Fiorot.
The highly anticipated women’s flyweight main event did not result in the emphatic finish that most fight fans were hoping for. Instead, the headliner proved to be a twenty-five minute sparring match, which Manon Fiorot seemingly dominated with relative ease. The French standout utilized her footwork and reach to counter Erin Blanchfield repeatedly and was also able to negate all over the American’s takedown attempts. With the win, ‘The Beast’ is now the top contender at women’s flyweight.
UFC Vegas 89 was co-headlined by a welterweight bout between Vicente Luque and Joaquin Buckley. The contest proved to be a proved to be a coming out party for Joaquin Buckley. ‘New Mansa’ was able to dictate the pace of the fight thanks to his big power shots. After pretty clearly winning the opening round, Buckley was able to take top control on the ground after Luque pulled guard. That proved to be a big mistake for ‘The Silent Assassin’ as Buckley proceeded to unload nasty ground and pound to force the referee stoppage.
Following the conclusion of tonight’s event, UFC officials announced at the post-fight press conference that four fighters would be taking home performance bonuses.
Fight of the night: Light heavyweight fighters Ibo Aslan and Anton Turkalj each pocketed $50k for their thrilling war on tonight’s UFC Atlantic City preliminary card. Turkalj ultimately won the contest by TKO in Round 3.
Performance of the night: Nate Landwehr pocketed an extra $50k for his first-round knockout victory over Jamall Emmers (see that here).
