After a briefly controversial moment in his last time out this past Friday, Joseph Benavidez (26-5) still found himself able to secure the win by first-round TKO over Alex Perez. The win marked Benavidez’ first since December 2016 when he defeated the now champion, Henry Cejudo.

The UFC is in the process of booking a rematch between former UFC featherweight kingpin Jose Aldo and fan favorite Cub Swanson. The report comes from Brazilian MMA news outlet Combate, claiming Aldo and Swanson will rematch at January’s UFC 233 event in Anaheim.

Calvillo made her professional debut in August 2016…she’s amassed a record of 7-1 since then and five of those fights came in 2017 (four in the UFC).

With one title fight already lined up, we could be getting a second at 170-pounds. It’s no secret that UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley and interim champion Colby Covington do not like each other and are on a crash course to meet one another inside the Octagon at some point. It’s just a matter of when.

On January 26, at UFC 233, UFC bantamweight champ TJ Dillashaw will move down to flyweight to take on divisional champ Henry Cejudo. If Dillashaw wins this fight, he will become one of just a few fighters to hold titles in two UFC weight classes concurrently. It could also spell the end of the flyweight division. Yet Cejudo isn’t sure that’s the way things will go down. He knows the cut down to 125 pounds will be tough on Dillashaw, and also believes he possesses a skillset unlike anyone Dillashaw has fought before.

The first pay-per-view of the year may have its headliner. According to MMAFighting, Henry Cejudo vs. TJ Dillashaw is targeted for the card in Anaheim, California on January 26. What weight class that the bout will be at is unknown right now. However, it seems to make the most sense to have the fight at bantamweight given the fact it is reported that the UFC is closing the flyweight division.

Just when you thought that UFC 233 couldn’t be getting a better building start, we get one hell of a bantamweight matchup thrown into the mix. It will have been two years once the end of December rolls around that we’ll have seen the former bantamweight king Dominick Cruz (22-2) compete inside the Octagon.

The UFC just announced three exciting fights for 2019. The ESPN-era is almost here, and to kick off the first card on ESPN+, Paige VanZant (7-4) will make her long-awaited return to the Octagon. VanZant will take on The Ultimate Fighter season 26 alum Rachael Ostovich (4-4) on January 18 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

It looks like we know who “Funky” Ben Askren (18-0) will likely be making his UFC debut against and it happens to be the one guy that he hasn’t called out yet. That opponent happens to be the former UFC welterweight champion, “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler (28-12) as ESPN’s Brett Okamoto has confirmed with UFC president Dana White that the matchup is targeted for UFC 233 in Anaheim, California on January 26

With 2018 closing out, news about the first UFC cards of 2019 is starting to leak. For example, we now know when are where the first pay-per-view of the year will occur. On Jan. 26, the UFC will be heading back to the Honda Center in Anaheim, California for UFC 233, according to the Los Angeles Times.
