Sean Strickland has strange response to why he’s never faced a submission attempt

UFC star Sean Strickland has given his view on why he hasn’t faced a submission attempt throughout his run with the promotion.
As we know, Sean Strickland is a pretty controversial figure. He’s outspoken, he doesn’t care who he offends, and the UFC aren’t going to slow him down anytime soon. Tomorrow night, he has the opportunity to silence all his doubters when he attempts to become UFC middleweight champion for the second time.

Strickland will be going up against Khamzat Chimaev, the reigning champion, who defeated Dricus du Plessis to claim the gold – the same man who dethroned Sean and then successfully defended the belt against him.
One fun fact about Strickland is that throughout the course of his UFC run, he has never faced a submission attempt. In a recent interview, he attempted to explain, in his own words, why that’s the case.
Strickland on not facing submission attempts
“Maybe because I’ve only fought men – I don’t know,” Strickland told reporters, including MMA Junkie, at Wednesday’s UFC 328 media day. “Submissions are f*cking gay. I’m sad that I potentially have to deal with a guy who wants to dry hump my leg. But I’m also never really in a position for guys to do submissions. I don’t want to go on my back. I’m not into that sh*t.”

Regardless of what kind of reasoning Sean tries to use, the fact of the matter is that if the opportunity presents itself, Khamzat is going to go in for the kill on Saturday night. He cannot afford to leave any openings, which makes this fight all the more intriguing.
Do you expect to see Chimaev attempt at least one submission on Strickland when the two collide at UFC 328? If so, will he be successful and retain the championship via submission? Let us know your thoughts on this in the comments below, BJPENN Nation!
