Former UFC champion claims Alex Pereira is one of the top 5 greatest of all time
Former UFC champion Henry Cejudo has given some high praise to two-weight UFC champion Alex Pereira.
As we know, Alex Pereira is easily one of the most popular fighters in mixed martial arts today. He has achieved some truly incredible things during his short period of time in the sport, and that’s especially true in the UFC where he has been able to become a two-weight world champion.
As we look ahead to his next fight, Pereira will try and become the first fighter in the history of the promotion to win a title in three weight classes. While it would only be the interim belt, a victory over Ciryl Gane at UFC Freedom 250 would be a huge statement for someone that has blown through every expectation put in his way.
In a recent episode of his podcast, the aforementioned Henry Cejudo had some interesting thoughts regarding Pereira.
Cejudo’s view on Pereira’s legacy
“He’s in the top 5 greatest of all time,” Cejudo said.
Henry did, however, have an interesting point on Pereira’s route to the title.
“No, because there’s a big difference because he was kind of pushed to the title at 185,” Cejudo said. “He was pushed to the title at light heavyweight. And now he’s being pushed to the title. It’s different when you actually run through the weight class like you did, like Jon Jones did, that shit is f*cking hard. Now if you’re able to do that, go up run through the next one, go up run through that next one, that’s a big difference. I’m not hating, I’m just telling the truth.”
