Sean Strickland compares Josh Hokit to Jake Paul after latest win: ‘A WWE skit’

Former UFC welterweight champion Sean Strickland isn’t a fan of Josh Hokit’s antics after the polarizing heavyweight’s latest win.

Sean Strickland is days away from another UFC middleweight title shot as he prepares to clash with former training partner Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 328. Chimaev vs. Strickland is one of the biggest fights in UFC middleweight history and is expected to deliver plenty of fiery moments before, during, and after their fight inside the Octagon.

Strickland has made a name for himself with some of his controversial rants online and in the media. But Strickland is also one of the top middleweights in the world, as evidenced by his most recent win over Anthony Hernandez at UFC Houston.

Similar to Strickland, UFC heavyweight Josh Hokit has backed up his words with actions as he’s catapulted into the Top 5 of the division. Hokit most recently defeated Curtis Blaydes in an instant classic at UFC 327, after multiple viral moments leading up to the event.

Strickland, who has trained with Hokit and considers him a friend, isn’t a fan of his antics.

Sean Strickland calls out Josh Hokit’s ‘fabricated image’ after previous training

In a recent media scrum with Full Send MMA and other outlets, Strickland was asked about Hokit’s ‘persona’ and self-promo style.

“Josh Hokit, you’re a grown-a** man,” Strickland said of Hokit.

“You’re like almost 30 years old and you’re acting like a f—– Jake Paul when he was 13. Stop, bro. You made it, people know who you are, just stop. You don’t have to interview homeless people and be f—— weird, just fight now!

“The thing I don’t like about Josh, and again I’ve met Josh and trained with him, he’s a very likable guy. He’s a really nice guy and I consider him a friend of mine, but at some point, it’s such a fabricated image, and it reminds you of a WWE skit.”

As of this writing, Hokit hasn’t responded to Strickland’s remarks. He’s set to return to the Octagon next month at UFC Freedom 250 against Derrick Lewis.
