Renato Moicano issues respectful callout of “legend” Jose Aldo

When UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway is ready to return to action, he will almost certainly return to a title defense opposite top contender Brian Ortega. That means that surging Brazilian contender Renato Moicano is going to have to wait before he gets his desired shot at the champion.

In the meantime, Moicano is hoping for a huge fight with former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo.

Moicano issued a respectful callout of his fellow Brazilian on Twitter.

“There’s only one fight that makes sense while we wait Max vs. Ortega,” Moicano said in his Tweet to Aldo. “Moicano vs. Aldo to determine who will fight for the title. You’re a legend [Jose Aldo] but it’s my TIME!!!… I’m ready!!!”

Renato Moicano is currently on a two-fight win streak. This streak is composed of a first-round submission of long-time contender Cub Swanson and a lopsided decision defeat of Calvin Kattar. Moicano’s last loss — the only setback of his career thus far — came courtesy of Brian Ortega. He’s 13-1-1 overall.

Jose Aldo, meanwhile, recently surged back into title contention with an incredible, first-round knockout of Jeremy Stephens. With this win, the former champion rebounded from back-to-back stoppage losses to Max Holloway. Widely considered the greatest featherweight of all time, he’s an incredible 27-4 overall.

Who do you think would come out on top in a fight between Renato Moicano and Jose Aldo?
