Bellator MMA has just announced the signing of former UFC and PRIDE veteran Wanderlei Silva. The legendary fighter who announced his retirement after a lifetime ban from MMA after evading a random drug test has come out of retirement since being released by the UFC and a re-hearing with the Nevada Athletic Commission. Silva’s received an amended three-year suspension after the re-hearing and will be eligible to fight in the spring of 2017. Via Bellator MMA:

The announcement of who’s name would be selected to step in on short notice to fight UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor was highly anticipated once it was known lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos pulled out of the fight. Former lightweight champion Anthony Pettis put his name into the pot of opponents that the UFC was stirring around but “Showtime” says he didn’t get his hopes up too high.

Back at ‘UFC Fight Night: Boston’ earlier this year, Matt Mitrione suffered one of the most gruesome eye injuries in the history of combat sports. According to Mitrione, the eye pokes left him unable to see out of the eye, which ultimately resulted in his orbital being cracked from a cross thrown by Browne.

Earlier this week Jon Jones took to Instagram to taunt his nemesis, UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier. The pair are currently scheduled to fight at UFC 197 on April 24th, however the verbal battle started before the two men were ever scheduled to fight at UFC 178 last year.

Nate and Nick Diaz use a high punch rate on their feet to over whelm their opponents usually for the duration of the bout if it doesn’t hit the ground.  Bas Rutten does not think that will be enough to beat the style of Conor McGregor. The former King Of Pancrase and former UFC Champion Rutten thinks McGregor has the better hands.

It seems like the championship lifestyle is finally catching up with Holly Holm, at least a little bit. The UFC women’s bantamweight champion was told by the former champion Ronda Rousey that she would be much happier in life if she stayed a contender, as the life of a champion has a taxing schedule aside from just training and fighting. However, Holm did make it known that she did not want to wait for a rematch pending Rousey’s schedule to recover and finish her movie projects. Holm got her wish when the UFC booked a fight for her against Miesha Tate at UFC 196 on March 5.
