Initially after the fight between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz at UFC 196, there was not a lot of talk about an immediate rematch. Diaz was able to withstand an early onslaught from McGregor in the opening round and turned things around in the second. Diaz hurt McGregor with punches and was able to utilize his black belt-level jiu-jitsu game to secure a rear-naked choke on McGregor to hand him his first loss in the UFC. With reports floating around that the UFC is looking to book an immediate rematch between the two stars at UFC 200, you have to wonder if this is simply a demand that McGregor has come up with.

Muay Thai kickboxing champion Tiffany van Soest posted a photo to her Instagram account revealing some corrupt news involving a Muay Thai kickboxing promotion. The Lion Fight champion says that she still has not been paid from Lion Fight Promotions for her championship bout that took place two months ago.

Holly Holm was likely just one round away from defending her UFC women’s bantamweight title for her first time at UFC 196. Unfortunately for Holm, Miesha Tate took the win and the belt by securing a rear-naked choke on Holm in the fifth round that put Holm to sleep. “I think she just crumbled under the pressure when I took her down in that second round,” Tate told Fight Network’s John Pollock (transcribed by MMA Fighting). “My coaches and Bryan [Caraway] actually told me, ‘She’s either going to stay down and be so scared about being submitted that you’re going to ground and pound her and beat her up or she’s going to try desperately to get up. Because your top pressure is so heavy she’s going to be forced to leave something out there and you’re going to grab it and you’re going to submit this girl.’

Kimbo Slice simply grabs the people’s attention. In his last controversial fight with Dada 5000 where he also happened to fail a drug test at Bellator 149, Spike TV said in a press release that a card with Slice on it once again broke a Bellator record. “Bellator 149 shattered viewership records for Bellator MMA, averaging 2 million viewers for the entire 3-hour fight card on Friday, February 19 (9:00-12:04am ET/PT), peaking with Kimbo Slice’s three-round brawl with Dada 5000 averaging 2.5 million viewers (11:16pm-11:30pm) and a 2.3 rating with Men 18-34. The main event featuring MMA legends Royce Gracie and Ken Shamrock drew 2.4 million viewers (11:54pm-11:57pm).”

UFC 200 is set for July 9th inside the new T-Mobile arena Las Vegas and should be the biggest event in the company history but the lineup is not set. Miesha Tate, the newly crowned bantamweight champion, said she would like to fight.

After UFC 196, where Nate Diaz shocked the world as he submitted Conor McGregor in the 2nd round of their welterweight scrap, UFC President Dana White stated that the event broke several UFC records. Given that, many wondered if the UFC would book a rematch between the two men, however Diaz stated that there were many times in his career that he wanted a rematch and didn’t get it. With that being said, according to a report from MMAFighting, we may get to see a rematch after all.

Earlier this month the UFC announced that a trilogy bout between Dominick Cruz vs. Urijah Faber would take place in the co-main event of UFC 199 in June. Faber won the pair’s first meeting under the WEC banner back in 2007, however it was Cruz who got the nod in 2011 to retain the UFC’s bantamweight championship.

The event as a whole broke every UFC record according to UFC President Dana White, and saw many high profile celebrities in attendance. Shortly after the bout, pop music icon Miley Cyrus took to Instagram to react to Diaz’s win.

Former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo has his mind set on one fight, which is the rematch for the UFC title with the current featherweight champion Conor McGregor. Conor McGregor shut the lights out early on Aldo at UFC 194. It took just 13 seconds for McGregor to land a punch flush on Aldo’s chin that dropped the former pound-for-pound king to the mat and finished it off with brutal hammerfists.

It’s official! After a report surfaced earlier this week that Anderson Silva vs. Uriah Hall would go down at UFC 198 in The Spider’s hometown of Curitiba Brazil, we now have official confirmation from the UFC that Anderson Silva and Uriah Hall will in fact be fighting at the event.

This week it was revealed that former UFC bantamweight champion Renan Barao would be going up to featherweight to fight Jeremy Stephens on May 29th. While the reports have yet to be officially confirmed by the UFC, Jeremy Stephens took to Twitter today to start a war of words with Barao, also revealing that the bout will be taking place in Vegas rather than Brazil as initially reported.

Tim Kennedy has not fought in the UFC since a controversial loss to Yoel Romero at UFC 178, which took place back in September 2014. However, the UFC middleweight veteran has recently been campaigning for a fight with Anderson Silva and was emotional to say the least when he heard reports of Silva fighting Uriah Hall. Apparently Kennedy found the news out on Twitter and expressed his feelings upon hearing the news.

Former UFC veteran heavyweight Matt Mitrione announced earlier this week that he left the UFC to sign with Bellator MMA. The former NFL football player and season 10 member of “The Ultimate Fighter” recently spoke with the Three Amigos on his big career decision (transcribed by Bloody Elbow): “I was brought here for my fighting style and my ratings/my draw. I want to fight against somebody that really wants to fight; not necessarily go toe-to-toe. I don’t care if we grapple, I don’t care — whatever it is — but I want there to be an action-filled fight, and whoever they deem appropriate — ‘Look, this guy’s a stand-and-banger, he’s a hell of a grappler, and he’s got hands on him,’ [then] awesome.”

According to a report from Brazilian news outlet Combate, former UFC bantamweight champion Renan Barao (33-3 MMA) will return to the octagon on May 29 to make his featherweight debut against Jeremy Stephens (24-12 MMA). After putting together an amazing win streak that stretched from 2005-2014, Renan Barao has gone just 1-2 in his past three octagon appearances. Both of those recent losses came via TKO to former champ T.J. Dillashaw. Sandwiched in between the Dillashaw losses was a submission victory over Canadian Mitch Gagnon. Barao, who has always struggled to make the bantamweight limit of 135-pounds, will now look to find new life as a featherweight (145-pounds).
