CM Punk as confident as can be ahead of MMA debut

While CM Punk has never competed in an amateur or professional MMA fight, the former WWE champion is as confident as can be ahead of his UFC debut against Mickey Gall at UFC 203 on September 10th in Cleveland, Ohio. Prior to the UFC 199, where it was announced that Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz would have their highly anticipated rematch at UFC 202 on August 20th, rumors of Conor McGregor stepping into the boxing ring for a boxing match with boxing icon Floyd Mayweather were the talk of the MMA community. While that fight was never made official, reports were flying around regarding dates and locations for the potential fight.

Heartbreaking news surfaced early Tuesday morning that former UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen‘s daughter was born 10 weeks premature and is currently fighting for her life. Sonnen, who recently celebrated the end of his 2-year suspension, had been MIA on social media for several days before news broke of his daughter’s premature birth.

UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor will be looking to avenge the first loss of his UFC career when he rematches Nate Diaz in the main event of UFC 202 this Saturday night in Las Vegas. The first fight between McGregor and Diaz occurred this past March headlining the UFC 196 fight card in Las Vegas. The bout took place in the UFC’s welterweight division (170-pounds), this after Nate took the bout on just 11 days notice in order to replace Rafael dos Anjos who had suffered an injury.

The UFC announced early Monday that Hall of Fame legend BJ Penn is set to return to the Octagon at UFC Fight Night Manila. Penn, the former UFC welterweight and lightweight champion will meet UFC #4 ranked featherweight Ricardo Lamas in the main event of the card, which takes place on October 15.
