Conor McGregor was in top form during Tuesday’s UFC press conference for the first official event in the Empire State. When asked who would be the hardest fight out of every fighter on stage for the UFC 205 presser, Conor McGregor immediately shut down Jeremy ‘Little Heathen’ Stephens, who interrupted ‘Mystic Mac’ before he could answer.

bjpenndotcom - September 27, 2016

The man known as ‘Mystic Mac’ has never been shy over predicting the method and minute in which he will end a fight. And for eight out of nine UFC fights he accurately predicted, it’s safe to say that Conor McGregor has earned the ‘Mystic Mac’ moniker. McGregor (20-3), who was just announced as lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez’s first title defense at the UFC’s historic first event in New York, did not hold back when asked about how the fight will go down during Tuesday’s press conference.

Tom Taylor - September 27, 2016

Last night, it was announced that UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor will be receiving a crack at Eddie Alvarez’s lightweight title. The two will share the main event honors of UFC 205. While this news garnered massive amounts of excitement from the fans, it did not go over so well with a number of McGregor’s peers. One fighter who appears to be particularly upset with the announcement of McGregor’s lightweight title shot is Jose Aldo.

Why We'll Still Miss Jon Jones at UFC 205

Tom Taylor - September 27, 2016

UFC 205, which is scheduled for November 12 in New York City, is quickly emerging as one of the greatest fight cards in MMA history. So long as it isn’t ravaged by injuries or PED-busts – knock on wood – it might actually take that title outright. The card, which will emanate from Madison Square Garden – the setting of such iconic boxing matches as Muhammad Ali vs. Joe Frazier 1 and Lennox Lewis vs. Evander Holyfield – has been packed to the rafters with some of the UFC’s very best talent.

Khabib Nurmagomedov feels "used' by UFC after announcement of UFC 205 main event

bjpenndotcom - September 27, 2016

Leading up to the announcement that Conor McGregor & Eddie Alvarez would be fighting in the main event of UFC 205 for the UFC lightweight championship, it appeared as though Khabib Nurmagomedov, who is ranked at #1 on the UFC’s official rankings, would be getting the fight with Alvarez. While initial reports indicated that the UFC was attempting to book a lightweight fight between McGregor & Alvarez, UFC President Dana White revealed that it was Nurmagomedov who was offered the fight against Alvarez.

UFC 205 now officially has a main event. As we learned earlier this week, the historic card will now be headlined by a lightweight title fight between UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor, and UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez. In addition to the fight headlining what many consider to be the biggest UFC card of all time, it will give McGregor the chance to become the first ever simultaneous 2-divison UFC champion.

While UFC President Dana White was adamant about UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor defending his featherweight title after his UFC 202 scrap with Nate Diaz, it was revealed earlier this week that McGregor’s next fight would be a lightweight tilt for Eddie Alvarez’ lightweight championship in the main event of UFC 205. In addition to his next fight being a lightweight scrap, it was revealed that McGregor would not be stripped of his featherweight championship as Dana White previously stated. Rather, the fight gives McGregor the opportunity to become not only the 3rd 2-division UFC champion in UFC history, but also the first simultaneous 2-division UFC champion.

Tim Kennedy hasn’t set foot into the UFC’s octagon in almost three years after a controversial TKO loss to Yoel Romero at UFC 178. Now on the verge of UFC 205 at the historic Madison Square Garden, the Strikeforce and UFC veteran explained the reason of his return to MMA on Monday’s edition of ‘The MMA Hour’. When asked why he’s coming back now after such a long layoff, Kennedy (18-5) discussed the new-found significance of his victory over newly-minted middleweight champion Michael Bisping and how his return to the UFC came about:

UFC 205 Fight Card and Rumors

Tom Taylor - September 27, 2016

UFC 205, which is scheduled for November 12 in New York City, is drawing closer by the day. As it does, it continues to evolve into one of the best UFC cards of all time. The biggest fight on the card, unsurprisingly, is its newly announced main event, which will see Eddie Alvarez defend his UFC lightweight title against reigning UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor. Alvarez won the title in July by smashing the streaking Rafael Dos Anjos to a first-round TKO win. McGregor, meanwhile, won featherweight gold with a 13-second KO of Jose Aldo last December – though he’s spent his last two fights battling Nate Diaz at welterweight. If the Irishman is successful against Alvarez, he’ll become the first fighter ever to hold two UFC titles simultaneously.

In addition to headlining arguably the biggest card in UFC history, McGregor faces the opportunity to become the first man to simultaneously hold 2 UFC belts as he looks to defeat Eddie Alvarez and become the UFC lightweight champion at the event.

Last week, the card grew with the addition of several dynamite match ups, including a strawweight title fight between Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Karolina Kowalkiewicz, a women’s bantamweight bout between recent champ Miesha Tate and Raquel Pennington, and a featherweight bout between former lightweight champ Frankie Edgar and Jeremy Stephens. Then, last night, the card finally got its main event, as a long-rumored lightweight title fight between reigning lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez and reigning featherweight champion Conor McGregor was finally made official.
