As the UFC’s 11th ranked light heavyweight, Sweden’s Ilir Latifi is undeniably one of the best light heavyweights in the world. At just 5’10, however, he’s also one of the division’s shorter fighters. Given his short stature, many fans have suggested that Latifi would be wise to drop from the light heavyweight division to the middleweight division. In a Sunday morning post to Instagram, however, Latifi explained that he’s far more likely to head north to the heavyweight division than he is to cut down to middleweight.

For most of December, former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum expected to close out 2016 by rematching a fellow former champ in Cain Velasquez. The two heavyweight greats were expected to throw down on the main card of UFC 207 on December 30. Unfortunately for everyone involved, however, Velasquez was forced out of this anticipated heavyweight showdown with a back injury. Though there was a brief search for a replacement opponent, Werdum was ultimately left without a fight.

According to a report from MMANewsline.com, the upcoming, 25th instalment of The Ultimate Fighter will be coached by new bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt, and estranged former Team Alpha Male stablemate TJ Dillashaw. This report claims to have confirmed the two bantamweights as the TUF 25 coaches with sources close to Team Alpha Male and several rumored TUF 25 cast members. The cast for this upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter will be composed of veterans of the UFC, The Ultimate Fighter, and apparently, several current UFC fighters. These experienced fighters will be competing in the welterweight division.

Later tonight UFC Hall of Famer BJ Penn will return to the octagon for the first time since July of 2014 when he squares off with dangerous striker Yair Rodriguez in the main event of UFC Fight Night 103. Prior to tonight’s highly anticipated ‘UFC Phoenix’ main event, the former two division UFC champion delivered one final message for his fans. “I am very happy that I get to perform in front of my fans today. I’m going to leave it all out there for you guys tonight. I hope you guys all enjoy it and thank you so much for supporting me over the years. I started fighting in the UFC in 2001 and you guys still support me today in 2017. I am just so humbled and all I can say is thank you guys so much!”

Earlier this month, we interviewed top UFC welterweight contender Stephen Thompson about his upcoming rematch with current division title holder Tyron Woodley. Thompson told BJPENN.com that he wasn’t “Mentally there” in his first fight with Woodley at UFC 205 and added that fans would see a different “Wonderboy” in their rematch at UFC 209.

Current UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley will return to the octagon on March 4 in Las Vegas where he will rematch top contender Stephen Thompson in the main event of UFC 209. Thompson and Woodley first met at this past November’s UFC 205 event in New York, and after a five-round war the title fight was ruled a majority draw by the judges in attendance.

UFC welterweight standout Alan Jouban (15-4 MMA) is coming off arguably the finest performance of his octagon career at last month’s UFC on FOX 22 event in Sacramento, where he handed Mike Perry (9-1 MMA) the first loss of his professional career via unanimous decision. The victory marked Alan Jouban’s third win in a row and fifth in his past six octagon appearances.

With talks of a potential Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather boxing match currently dominating headlines in both the MMA community and the boxing community, everyone wants a piece of the action! To kick off 2017, Mayweather made McGregor an offer to fight for $15 million. UFC President Dana White was quick to make an appearance on ‘The Herd’, where he made Mayweather a formal offer of $25 million to fight, explaining that the pair could discuss how the PPV sales would be split. Mayweather was quick to respond, calling White a “comedian” for what he believed to be a low-ball offer.

Talks have seriously heated up in regards to a potential Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather boxing match in 2017. To kick off the year, Mayweather made McGregor a fight offer, offering the UFC superstar $15 million to fight, while leaving the door open to potentially giving the UFC lightweight champ a cut of the PPV sales. That offer didn’t sit too well with UFC President Dana White, who appeared on ‘The Herd’ this week to offer Mayweather $25 million to fight McGregor, while saying that the pair could talk about how the PPV sales would be split. Mayweather laughed off White’s offer, reiterating that he wouldn’t fight for less than $100 million, a figure he had mentioned consistently throughout the course of the last several months.

Unfortunately for Rousey, after months of buildup leading to her return, it took just 48 seconds for bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes to defeat Rousey, picking up a quick and devastating TKO win over the former champ. Following the fight, there was much speculation as to whether or not Rousey would return to the Octagon. It didn’t take long for the former champ to break her silence as she revealed that she would be taking some time to process the loss before she made any decisions about her future in the sport.
