Tom Taylor - September 12, 2018
After Francis Ngannou’s back-to-back decision losses to then UFC heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic and Derrick Lewis, UFC President Dana White accused the Cameroonian-French heavyweight contender of having an ego problem. “I can tell you that his ego absolutely did run away with him,” White said of Francis Ngannou in an interview with MMA Fighting. “The minute that happens to you in the fight game, you start to fall apart. I had some personal encounters with him, as did other people in the organization, and this guy’s ego was so out of control.”

Tom Taylor - September 11, 2018
Former pro wrestler CM Punk is now 0-2 as a mixed martial artist. Both of those losses occurred in the UFC’s Octagon, where he was first submitted in the first round by Mickey Gall, then walloped to a decision by Mike Jackson. Since his loss to Jackson, which occurred at UFC 225 in June, Punk’s future has been nebulous. More recently, however, CM Punk has suggested that he still plans to continue training in MMA at the very least. And speaking on Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show this week, he suggested that he would consider fighting outside the UFC if the UFC is no longer interested in promoting his fights.

Evan Dunham "dealing with collections" after UFC fails to pay post-fight ambulance bill
Tom Taylor - September 11, 2018
After his rousing draw with Beneil Dariush, which occurred at UFC 216 in October of 2017, Evan Dunham was sent to the hospital by ring-side physicians. Though Dunham absorbed considerable damage in this fight, he didn’t actually want to board an ambulance, as he’d had a very hard time getting the UFC to cover the ambulance bill after his 2013 scrap with Gleison Tibau. All the same, Evan Dunham heeded the advice of the UFC’s doctors, and boarded an ambulance to the hospital, keen to make sure he didn’t sustain any serious damage in his fight with Dariush. Two fights later, he’s now “dealing with collections” as the UFC has still failed to pay his ambulance bill for that fight.

UFC 229, which will be headlined by a blockbuster lightweight title fight between undefeated UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and former lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor, is now less than a month away. Surprisingly, however, the UFC has done very little in the way of promotion for this potentially massive October 6 fight card. Speaking to TSN’s Aaron Bronsteter in the midst of last weekend’s UFC 228 festivities, UFC President Dana White assured that there are, in fact, a couple of UFC 229 press conferences coming, which we can of course expect to include both Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor.
