Dustin Poirier wasted little time in responding to former UFC lightweight title challenger Nate Diaz tonight on social media. The two lightweight contenders have been trading barbs online ever since it was announced ten days ago that “The Diamond” had been forced out of their scheduled UFC 230 co-headliner with an injury.

Nate Diaz took to social media once again today where he blasted Dustin Poirier for mysteriously pulling out of their scheduled fight at UFC 230. Ten days ago, news broke that “The Diamond” had been forced out of his slated bout with “The Stockton Slugger” due to an undisclosed injury.

The wild story surrounding UFC flyweight Mara Romero Borella seems to be coming to a conclusion as we now know that her 26-year suspension by the Italian Anti-Doping Agency will not be affecting her UFC career. Last month Borella had her already 15-year suspension extended after violating contravention of article 4.12.3 of the Italian Anti Doping Code (NSA) which prohibits competing while suspended and violation of article eight of the same code which prohibits the use of Italian sporting facilities while serving a suspension.

At UFC 230, Daniel Cormier will defend his heavyweight belt for the very first time against Derrick Lewis. Lewis is coming off of a knockout win against Alexander Volkov at UFC 229. ‘The Black Beast’ took a beating against Volkov but is promising he is healthy ahead of his title fight against Cormier. Following his win, Lewis said ‘his balls was hot’ which made him gain hundreds of thousands of followers on Instagram. With his star as bright as it will ever be, the UFC pounced on the opportunity and booked Lewis vs. Cormier to headline the Madison Square Garden card on November 3.

Ever since UFC lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov defeated Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 229 earlier this month, there’s been talk of a potential rematch between the two stars. That being said, UFC President Dana White claims this is not the current plan. “I haven’t even thought about a [McGregor] rematch,” White told ESPN. “Obviously, I know Conor wants a rematch. We need to do what’s right and what’s fair. We’ll see how it plays out. We literally haven’t thought about it yet.”

Earlier this year, former UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendricks retired from MMA. As it turns out, however, this retirement was short-lived. Hendricks is now gearing up for a foray into the bloody world of bareknuckle boxing, as he’s set to battle former Bellator welterweight contender Brennan Ward in the main event of the debut show from World Bareknuckle Fighting Federation (WBKFF) on November 9. From the sounds of it, it’s also possible that Johny Hendricks returns to MMA in the future too. Speaking on MMAjunkie Radio this week, the former welterweight kingpin shared his feeling that the skills he develops in his bareknuckle boxing training might add a new layer to his MMA game.

While many members of the MMA community are confident the pound-for-pound great Jon Jones will return to action in vintage form, former UFC middleweight champ Michael Bisping isn’t sure. He believes Jon Jones’ demons could be a factor in the fight — although he understands that some fighters need their demons to perform.

Former UFC and Bellator lightweight champ Eddie Alvarez is now a ONE Championship fighter. Speaking on the ONE: Heart of the Lion conference call on Wednesday evening, Alvarez opened up on his decision to sign with the Singapore-based promotion. “Without getting too much into it, we had offers from all around the world,” Eddie Alvarez said (transcript via MMA Fighting). “We got offers from just about everyone you can think of. Everyone expressed interest. The idea of ONE Championship, it’s the only major organization I haven’t held world title in. I won the Bellator title twice during my career, I won the UFC title during my career and as far as I’m concerned, ONE is the only major organization that I haven’t got to touch that world title belt.

The November 3 fight card, which takes place at Madison Square Garden Arena in New York City, recently received it’s main event in the form of a heavyweight title fight featuring current champion Daniel Cormier taking on perennial contender Derrick Lewis. The announcement came as a surprise to many, with Derrick Lewis having just competed earlier this month at UFC 229. However, Lewis gained a ton of publicity that evening in Las Vegas, this after scoring a last-second knockout win over Alexander Volkov which was immediately followed by his now infamous post-fight interview with Joe Rogan.

As the MMA universe puts the mayhem of UFC 229 in the rearview mirror, our attention shifts to UFC 230. It has become an annual trip, the Octagon touching down at Madison Square Garden in New York, New York. The two previous trips to the Garden gave fans some of the most memorable moments in recent memory. Georges St-Pierre winning the middleweight title last year and Conor McGregor steamrolling Eddie Alvarez in 2016 come to mind. To think, one of the biggest cards of the year didn’t have a proper main event until about 10 days ago.
