EXCLUSIVE | Colby Covington promises to bring entertainment back to the UFC

Cole Shelton - November 20, 2018

Colby Covington is known for his trash talk. He is seemingly always calling out several fighters at a time and saying he is the best fighter on the planet. However, Covington hasn’t been able to back that up since his last fight in which he won the interim welterweight title in June against Rafael Dos Anjos. Since then, he was supposed to fight Tyron Woodley but Woodley took on Darren Till instead. Now, it is a waiting game for Covington. The current plan is for ‘Chaos’ to fight Woodley in the early part of 2019.

Ray Borg announces move up to the bantamweight division

Drake Riggs - November 20, 2018

For the many fighters that have been competing for the UFC at 125-pounds over the years, it appears that it’s time to move on, whether that be by leaving the promotion entirely or by changing weight classes. It has been a rather rough year for one of the top-ranked contenders at 125-pounds, Ray “The Tazmexican Devil” Borg as he has had four consecutive fight cancellations along with aiding his son through a battle tougher than any fight that Borg could compete in himself.

Santiago Ponzinibbio calls out Conor McGregor and others

Cole Shelton - November 20, 2018

Santiago Ponzinibbio is on a mission to fight the best, and be the best. To do this, Ponzinibbio knows he has to be the welterweight champion and then defeat arguably two of the pound-for-pound best in Georges St-Pierre and Conor McGregor. Ponzinibbio most recently fought last weekend in his home country of Argentina in which he defeated Neil Magny by fourth-round TKO. The win should catapult Ponzinibbio into the top-eight if not higher in the rankings. However, he believes he deserves the next title shot, and then a fight with McGregor and St-Pierre.

The UFC is continuing its push into the Chinese market in a big way. The promotion will be opening a brand new UFC Performance Institute in Shanghai, China. It will reportedly be more than 93,000 square feet and will cost the promotion a whopping $13 million. However, this PI will be quite different from the one that’s been established in Las Vegas. In Las Vegas, the PI is for UFC athletes to recover, train and help with their weight cutting and nutrition. However, the one in Shanghai will primarily be about developing Asian MMA fighters, with the hope that the fighters will then sign with promotion. The promotion will reportedly offer these fighters ‘scholarships’ which will allow them to train at the PI.
