The Miami Herald has reported that former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion, Conor McGregor was arrested in Miami, Florida on Monday. The Irishman is being charged with “strong-armed robbery and misdemeanor criminal mischief” following an incident that saw McGregor smashing a fan’s cell phone according to the report. The incident is believed to have happened around 5:00 AM when the fan was photographing McGregor outside of the Fontainebleau Miami Beach hotel.

There is significance in the signing for obvious reasons, because as of the UFC featherweight division’s creation in February 2017, the promotion has only homed two natural 145-pound fighters since then in the former champion, Cris Cyborg, and Megan Anderson.

According to Brett Okamoto of ESPN, fan favorite lightweight contenders Nate Diaz and Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone recently discussed a potential rematch — but not at lightweight. Okamoto says Cowboy and Diaz chatted about a rematch backstage at UFC 235. Diaz suggested he was up for it, but so long as there was no weight cut involved. That apparently means the fight would have to occur in the 185-pound middleweight division — a weight class neither man has competed in before.
