When Conor McGregor made his return to the Octagon at UFC 229 to take on Khabib Nurmagomedov it was the biggest pay-per-view in the UFC’s history. Part of the reason the card was so successful was because of McGregor and Nurmagomedov’s heated rivalry. First, it was the Nurmagomedov confronting McGregor’s friend and teammate in Artem Lobov. Then, it was McGregor throwing the dolly at the bus. And, finally, after the fight there was a post-fight melee to top it all off.

The trash talk between Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov has reached new heights over the last few days, as McGregor has once again targeted his rival’s religion, and Nurmagomedov returned fire by calling the Irishman a “rapist.” Speaking to TMZ, MMA manager Ali Abdelaziz explained how Khabib Nurmagomedov reacted to this latest verbal assault from Conor McGregor. Apparently, the lightweight champ just smiled — which is a dangerous sign.

Conor McGregor, for example, made several comments thought to be grossly insensitive toward the muslim faith, while Khabib Nurmagomedov flat-out called McGregor a rapist amid the sexual assault accusations the Irishman is currently facing.

Last night, we were hit with the unfortunate news that former UFC middleweight title challenger Yoel Romero had been forced out of the main event of UFC Fort Lauderdale with an illness. This left his opponent, Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza, without an opponent. According a report from Brazilian MMA news outlet Combate, the UFC has already found a new opponent for the man they call Jacare in streaking middleweight knockout artist Paulo Costa. This bout has not yet been officially confirmed by the UFC.

The bout will go down on June 14 inside New York City’s world famous Madison Square Garden. This news was first reported by ESPN, and subsequently confirmed by MMA Junkie.

According to a report from Brazilian media outlet AgFight, Yoel Romero is out of the UFC Fort Lauderdale main event due to an illness. The report states that Romero contracted pneumonia in the weeks leading up to the fight, causing him to withdraw from his headlining bout against Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza.

The Irish superstar, who had made some controversial posts yesterday evening which were later deleted, issued a form of apology in today’s tweet.
