Ever since his thunderous, second round knockout of Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone back in January, Jorge Masvidal has had a difficult time finding a willing opponent for his next fight – and that’s not for lack of trying. Over the last few weeks, the Cuban contender has made several callouts on social media in attempt to get a fight booked. His latest callout was directed at Neil Magny. At first, Magny seemed to be down with the notion of this scrap. According to Masvidal, however, Magny refused to put pen to paper, citing an injury that will keep him on the shelf for some time.

Last month, in the co-main event of the UFC’s latest trip to Denver, Colorado, Jorge Masvidal scored a significant upset by knocking Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone out with a series of second-round punches. In doing so, he ended the fan favorite’s four-fight win-streak, and established himself as a legitimate welterweight contender. Having emerged as a bona fide contender in the stacked welterweight division, Masvidal quickly began to look ahead to his next fight. For a time, he made efforts to pick a fight with streaking contender Demian Maia.

Following Jorge Masvidal’s impressive ‘UFC Fight Night: Denver’ win over Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone this past weekend, the streaking welterweight contender found himself being offered a fight against Demian Maia. Masvidal accepted the bout, and Maia was sent the potential bout. Maia turned the fight down, and fellow top ranked welterweight Neil Magny offered to step up and fight Masvidal.

The card, which would see Holly Holm upset Ronda Rousey with a second-round head-kick, entered the history books as the most attended event in UFC history with an audience of 56,000 fans. Earlier this month, news broke that the UFC would be returning to the Australian city on November 27, just over a year removed from the historic UFC 193.

With just over a month to go until UFC 202 in La Vegas, ‘The Korean Stun Gun’ Dong Hyun Kim has withdrawn from his scrap with Neil Magny due to an undisclosed injury according to MMAJunkie. As a result, the UFC is currently looking for a replacement opponent for Magny, who will be riding a 3 fight win streak into the event should the UFC find a replacement opponent for him.
