UFC Houston Results: Melquizael Costa TKO’s Dan Ige (Video)

Ige (19-11 MMA) will be returning to action for the first time since suffering a unanimous decision loss to Patricio Pitbull at last July’s UFC 318 event in New Orleans. Prior to that setback, the Hawaiian had earned a TKO victory over Sean Woodson at UFC 314.
Meanwhile, Melquizael Costa (26-7 MMA) has gone a perfect 5-0 in his most recent Octagon appearances, his most recent effort resulting in a TKO victory over Morgan Charriere this past December. The Brazilian has finished three of his past five opponents during that impressive stretch.

Round one of the UFC Houston main card featherweight matchup begins and Dan Ige comes forward aggressively. He throws an inside low kick and then shoots in and scores a nice takedown. Melquizael Costa looks for a leg lock which allows him to create some space and get back to his feet. Ige quickly pushes him against the cage and lands a knee to the body. The Hawaiian with a shoulder strike. Costa with a nice knee to the body. Ige responds with some foot stomps. Costa reverses the position and lands a nice knee to the mid-section. ‘100K Ige” switches the position back in his favor and lands a knee. Melquizael Costa gets back to range and attacks with a head kick. A nice body kick now. 90 seconds remain. Costa with a hook kick. Ige appears to have been stunned by that shot. He retreats and then comes forward. A nice knee from Costa and now a body kick. Dan Ige looks to force the clinch. Costa avoids and gets back to range. A nice kick and then a counter right from Melquizael. He looks very confident. Ige gets dropped with a spinning kick. Costa jumps all over him. This one is all over. WOW!
