Johnny Walker ‘disappointed’ after UFC 327 loss in first comments since ‘This is boring’ chants

UFC light heavyweight star Johnny Walker’s loss to Dominick Reyes at UFC 327 left fans clamoring for more from both fighters.

UFC fan favorite Johnny Walker’s quest to earn a potential light heavyweight title shot hit a wall in a split decision loss to Dominick Reyes at UFC 327. In a slow-paced fight, Reyes squeaked out the win on the scorecards after a fight that led many fans to chant ‘This is boring!’ as the action played out.

It was a disappointing result for Walker after a second-round TKO over Zhang Mingyang in the UFC Shanghai main event last August. As for Reyes, he moved one step closer to potentially entering the light heavyweight title mix.

Walker heard the in-fight and post-fight criticisms of his performance at UFC 327, and believes some of the harsh assessments are justified.

In a recent Instagram video post, Walker addressed his fans after UFC 327.

“I’m very disappointed with my performance,” Walker said . “There was a lot of movement, a lot of technical work, nobody wanna take the risk, either Dominick Reyes or me. I know I could do way better than that; that’s not my best. I was so well-prepared, like physically and mentally too, but that wasn’t me. I know I can do better than that…

“I know a lot of people are too, but it’s just one more day at work at the highest level. Nobody want to take the risk. I try a lot to find the range. I try engage as much as I can. I put a lot of pressure. I don’t think could go either way, you know, but even if I win the fight, I would be very disappointed with my performance because I know I can finish, I know I can have way more technical work like jiu-jitsu, wrestling and striking, to show and to use than I did on that fight.” (h/t MMA Fighting)

Walker hasn’t won consecutive fights since a three-fight streak between 2022 and 2023. He’s went winless in four of his past five outings overall.
