Tyson Fury details suicide attempt in a wild interview with Joe Rogan

Chris Taylor - October 27, 2018

Tyson Fury was a guest on the most recent episode of the Joe Rogan Experience (JRE) and produced one of the most astonishing interviews given by any athlete in quite some time. Back in February of 2015, Tyson Fury was literally on top of the world. He had just won the unified WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO, Ring magazine and lineal heavyweight titles, this after defeating long-reigning world champion Wladimir Klitschko.

Joe Rogan says Dillon Danis was "absolutely provoking" Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229

Christopher Taylor - October 26, 2018

Joe Rogan was cageside for UFC 229’s highly anticipated lightweight title fight between bitter rivals Khaib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor. The UFC commentator was only a few feet away from the action when “The Eagle” locked in a neck crank in round four which forced the Irish superstar to tapout.

Sijara Eubanks on Joe Rogan: "One day he is going to find himself with me in the cage"

Christopher Taylor - October 23, 2018

Women’s flyweight contender Sijara Eubanks plans on giving UFC commentator Joe Rogan a piece of her mind the next time she has a post-fight interview. Earlier this month it was reported that Sijara Eubanks (5-3 MMA) was set to face former bantamweight title challenger Valentina Shevchenko for the vacant UFC flyweight championship in the main event of UFC 230.

Joe Rogan hopes Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Conor McGregor rematch isn't next

Tom Taylor - October 16, 2018

There is already significant buzz about a rematch between UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and the man he just beat, former two-division champion Conor McGregor. While this rematch would generate massive amounts of money, however, its hardly the most sensible fight to make next from a rankings standpoint. That’s why UFC color commentator Joe Rogan is hoping it isn’t next.

Joe Rogan: 'I don’t even know who Sijara Eubanks is and I’m the commentator for the UFC'

Tom Taylor - October 3, 2018

Yesterday afternoon, news surfaced that Valentina Shevchenko and Sijara Eubanks are likely to battle for the vacant UFC women’s flyweight title in the main event of UFC 230 on November 3. To say the fan reaction was mostly negative would be an understand. On social media, all but a few fans trashed this UFC 230 main event, many of whom felt that Dustin Poirier and Nate Diaz should have been allowed to fight for the 165-pound title instead.

Joe Rogan feels Bellator could have the world's best fighters in at least two weight classes

Tom Taylor - September 13, 2018

Joe Rogan, a long-time color commentator for the UFC, is not just a UFC fan. He’s also very interested in the products offered by other MMA promotions, particularly Bellator MMA — the UFC’s chief rival. Speaking on the latest episode of the Joe Rogan Experience MMA Show, Rogan shared his thoughts on Bellator MMA. Apparently, he’s hoping the promotion will continue to provide increasing competition for the UFC.

Joe Rogan argues extreme weight-cutting is a worse form of cheating than PEDs

Tom Taylor - August 7, 2018

UFC commentator Joe Rogan is not a fan of extreme weight-cutting — the practice of dehydrating oneself in order to make weight for a fight, then rapidly rehydrating to regain that weight, and carry a significant weight advantage into the cage. In his eyes, this practice is not only incredibly dangerous, it’s also a form of cheating more severe than performance enhancing drugs. “It is stupid,” Rogan said on his podcast the Joe Rogan Experience (transcript via MMAMania). “What it is is sanctioned cheating. It’s sanctioned cheating and it’s cheating at a much higher scale even than PEDs. If you get two people and they both weigh 135 [pounds] but they’re both totally hydrated and one of them has been doing steroids and one of them hasn’t been doing steroids, the difference will be far less than if one person weighs in at 135 [pounds] but then balloons up to 160 [pounds] and then gets into that octagon at 160 [pounds] but there’s no PEDs involved. That’s a much greater advantage than someone whose doing some sort of testosterone thing or something. They’re compromised but the benefit of being so much larger might outweigh being compromised.

Joe Rogan feels that Stipe Miocic deserves rematch with Daniel Cormier

Tom Taylor - July 26, 2018

The next shot at Daniel Cormier’s UFC heavyweight title will go to former champion Brock Lesnar. In the eyes of many fans, however, this is the wrong choice. Instead, these fans feel that the next shot at Cormier should go to the very many he won the title from: Stipe Miocic. Miocic, after all, owns the record for most consecutive title defenses by a UFC heavyweight champion, and until his loss to Cormier — a first-round knockout — looked more or less unstoppable. Furthermore, many dominant champions are given immediate rematches when they lose their belts — such as Ronda Rousey and Joanna Jedrzejczyk, to name a few.

Joe Rogan gives harsh assessment of CM Punk: "He doesn’t have physical talent"

Tom Taylor - June 14, 2018

CM Punk’s second MMA bout, which occurred on the main card of UFC 225 last weekend, was more or less a disaster for him. Though he managed to survive the full fifteen minutes with his foe Mike Jackson, he was out-classed from bell-to-bell, and left the cage looking like bruised plum. Over the course of his fifteen-minute fight with Jackson, Punk showed plenty of heart — enough heart to “fill the arena,” according to his foe. Yet the unfortunate side-effect of the fight going the full fifteen minutes is that it provided ample proof that Punk is not cut out for cage fighting.

Joe Rogan details why he and FOX butted heads, "they actually paid me less"

Drake Riggs - May 28, 2018

If you are an avid watcher of MMA and the UFC more specifically, when watching UFC fight nights on FOX(aka UFC on FOX), you will have noticed about a year or so ago that longtime UFC commentator, Joe Rogan no longer works those events. With the news of the UFC recently reaching a new deal with ESPN that will begin in 2019, FOX will no longer be home to the UFC. Obviously, this doesn’t mean much for Rogan who wasn’t working the events anyway, but he took the time yesterday during his Fight Companion for UFC Liverpool to go a bit in depth about everything wrong with his relationship with the network.

Joe Rogan thinks its "f***ing crazy" that CM Punk is on UFC 225 main card

Tom Taylor - May 23, 2018

The UFC 225 main card is absolutely stacked. Regrettably, there is one aspect of this main card that is a little controversial. Many fans are disappointed that it includes the sophomore MMA fight of former pro wrestler CM Punk, who is set to take on Mike Jackson.  The controversy, of course, is that Punk and Jackson both own 0-1 pro MMA records. While Punk is a huge name — and a figure that is almost certain to boost the UFC 225 PPV revenue — many fans feel he belongs on the undercard.

UFC commentator Joe Rogan is "super suspicious" of Fedor Emelianenko's record

Tom Taylor - May 2, 2018

Last weekend, in the main event of Bellator 198, heavyweight legend Fedor Emelianenko picked up one if his best wins in ages, putting former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir down with first-round punches. In this win, Emelianenko showed flashes of the brilliance he was famous for at the height of his reign as the world’s best heavyweight. In the opinion of UFC color commentator Joe Rogan, however, Emelianenko’s heyday might have been marred by performance-enhancing drug use. In Rogan’s eyes, it’s “suspicious” how Emelianenko’s success seemed to dwindle when he began fighting outside of Japan, where drug-testing is more stringent.

Joe Rogan examines "fascinating" relationship between Conor McGregor and UFC: "They're printing money"

Tom Taylor - April 24, 2018

Over the last few weeks, UFC commentator Joe Rogan has had plenty to say about Conor McGregor‘s infamous Brooklyn rampage, during which the Irishman threw a dolly through the window of the UFC 223 fighter bus and injured Ray Borg and Michael Chiesa. On the latest episode of the JRE MMA Show, Rogan once again delved into the topic, imaging what might have happened if another fighter had done what McGregor did.

Joe Rogan responds to backlash surrounding controversial Nurmagomedov-Iaquinta commentary

Tom Taylor - April 9, 2018

Joe Rogan’s commentary during the UFC 223 main event, which saw Khabib Nurmagomedov defeat a last-minute opponent in Al Iaquinta, drew the ire of many MMA fans. The criticism was that Rogan’s commentary leaned to far in the direction of Iaquinta, and simultaneously disparaged the skill of Nurmagomedov. Late on Sunday night, Joe Rogan responded to this backlash, offering an explanation—and an apology—in a lengthy Instagram post.
