Jamahal Hill announces heavyweight move after recent skid, calls out Josh Hokit for debut

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill entered the Josh Hokit fight sweepstakes after announcing a major change.

Jamahal Hill has lost three straight fights since claiming the UFC light heavyweight throne by defeating Glover Teixeira at UFC 283. Hill hasn’t fought since a unanimous decision loss to Khalil Rountree Jr. at UFC Baku last summer, and although he recently hinted at a ‘new fire’ for fighting, things have remained quiet on the matchmaking front.

At a time of uncertainty in the light heavyweight division amidst Carlos Ulberg’s ongoing injury recovery, Hill could potentially get back into the title mix with a win or two on his resume. In the meantime, the heavyweight division is also in need of new blood, especially after Alex Pereira’s stunning loss at UFC Freedom 250.

As Hill plots his comeback, he’s making a massive career change.

Jamahal Hill calls out Josh Hokit for UFC heavyweight debut

In a recent episode of his What You Think? podcast, Hill announced his planned move to the heavyweight division and called out polarizing star Josh Hokit for his debut.

“I’m going to go ahead and say it now – I’m going to heavyweight!” Hill said.

“I’m officially going to heavyweight, it’s been something I’ve been working on for the last few months. Putting on necessary weight, muscle, everything like that to move up. Wouldn’t it be better if I came back and went and won the heavyweight title? Double champ is better than two-time champ.

“As far as Josh Hokit goes, that’s who I want!” Hill continued. “That’s exactly the fight I want for my debut!”

Hokit continued his unbeaten run in the Octagon with a brutal finish against Derrick Lewis at UFC Freedom 250 on Sunday. Despite Hill’s callout, Hokit seems focused on a potential heavyweight showdown with Pereira if the former two-division champ opts to return to the division.
