Frankie Edgar is undoubtably a fighter at heart. Throughout the course of his 11 year professional career, the former UFC lightweight champion has defeated some of the biggest names in the sport, including BJ Penn, Gray Maynard, Urijah Faber, and Chad Mendes. At UFC 200, Edgar will look to add former featherweight kingpin Jose Aldo’s name to that list. The fight will be a rematch for Edgar, who lost to Aldo in 2013 at UFC 156. Since then Edgar has gone on a tear, winning 5 fights in a row. Prior to the fight, Edgar’s coach, Mark Henry, recalled a time when Edgar partook in a flag football game with kids and adults at his house. The former lightweight champion didn’t take it easy.

In less than a week at UFC 200, Frankie Edgar and Jose Aldo will have their highly anticipated rematch, this time for the interim UFC featherweight championship. The fight will earn the winner a crack at UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor, who fights Nate Diaz in a highly anticipated rematch at UFC 202. The fight will be Jose Aldo’s first since his UFC 193 knockout loss to Conor McGregor last year. While Aldo believes that the loss reignited a fire under him, Frankie Edgar believes that the loss will have a significant impact on Aldo’s mental game at UFC 200.

After winning the UFC featherweight championship by knocking out Jose Aldo in the main event of UFC 194, Conor McGregor opted to go up to lightweight to fight Rafael dos Anjos for the lightweight title at UFC 196. Ultimately, dos Anjos was forced to withdraw from the fight with a broken foot, and was replaced by Nate Diaz on just two weeks notice. On fight night, Diaz submitted McGregor in the second round of their welterweight matchup.

Since Conor McGregor signed to fight Rafael dos Anjos for the lightweight title at UFC 196 in the beginning of the year, which ultimately turned into a welterweight fight against Nate Diaz, there has been much speculation as to whether or not McGregor will return to featherweight. With McGregor vs. Diaz II set for UFC 202 in August, and Frankie Edgar vs. Jose Aldo II set for UFC 200 for the interim featherweight championship, Frankie Edgar has been ver open about his belief that McGregor will not return to featherweight.

Frankie “The Answer” Edgar has a big fight coming up at UFC 200 as he is set to rematch Jose Aldo for the interim featherweight title. Edgar’s coach Mark Henry startled a lot of fight fans with his message he posted on Instagram on Monday. Henry said, “Apologize to fans UFC 200 EDGAR vs ALDO fight MIGHT be OFF @frankieedgar was tested today by USADA and tested positive!! When it comes to UFC featherweight star Conor McGregor, one thing is certain, you never know what he’s going to do next. After winning the UFC featherweight championship in December at UFC 194 by knocking out Jose Aldo, McGregor looked to move up to lightweight to fight Rafael dos Anjos for the lightweight championship. When Rafael dos Anjos backed out of the fight with a broken foot, McGregor accepted a short-notice fight at welterweight against Nate Diaz.

Ahead of UFC 200 on July 9th, it appears as though Frankie Edgar has had enough of Jose Aldo’s trash talk. The pair are currently slated to fight on the main card in an interim featherweight championship fight, with the winner facing Conor McGregor at a later date. Recently, Edgar stated that he felt Aldo was talking trash just to hype the fight, but was doing a rather poor job of it. Aldo on the other hand, believes he will win the fight after “easily” winning the first one, apparently with just his left arm. Ahead of UFC 200, Edgar spoke to reporters in Rio de Janeiro to discuss Aldo’s trash talk ahead of the fight.

UFC President Dana White has stated that regardless of whether or not McGregor defeats Diaz, his next fight will be a featherweight title defense. With the UFC announcing an event in New York on November 12th at the Madison Square Garden, Frankie Edgar believes the stars could be aligning for a showdown with McGregor at the famed arena.
