Frankie Edgar is undoubtably a fighter at heart. Throughout the course of his 11 year professional career, the former UFC lightweight champion has defeated some of the biggest names in the sport, including BJ Penn, Gray Maynard, Urijah Faber, and Chad Mendes. At UFC 200, Edgar will look to add former featherweight kingpin Jose Aldo’s name to that list. The fight will be a rematch for Edgar, who lost to Aldo in 2013 at UFC 156. Since then Edgar has gone on a tear, winning 5 fights in a row. Prior to the fight, Edgar’s coach, Mark Henry, recalled a time when Edgar partook in a flag football game with kids and adults at his house. The former lightweight champion didn’t take it easy.

In less than a week at UFC 200, Frankie Edgar and Jose Aldo will have their highly anticipated rematch, this time for the interim UFC featherweight championship. The fight will earn the winner a crack at UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor, who fights Nate Diaz in a highly anticipated rematch at UFC 202. The fight will be Jose Aldo’s first since his UFC 193 knockout loss to Conor McGregor last year. While Aldo believes that the loss reignited a fire under him, Frankie Edgar believes that the loss will have a significant impact on Aldo’s mental game at UFC 200.

After winning the UFC featherweight championship by knocking out Jose Aldo in the main event of UFC 194, Conor McGregor opted to go up to lightweight to fight Rafael dos Anjos for the lightweight title at UFC 196. Ultimately, dos Anjos was forced to withdraw from the fight with a broken foot, and was replaced by Nate Diaz on just two weeks notice. On fight night, Diaz submitted McGregor in the second round of their welterweight matchup.

Edgar’s coach Mark Henry startled a lot of fight fans with his message he posted on Instagram on Monday. The pair are currently slated to fight on the main card in an interim featherweight championship fight, with the winner facing Conor McGregor at a later date. Recently, Edgar stated that he felt Aldo was talking trash just to hype the fight, but was doing a rather poor job of it. The way Frankie Edgar’s manager sees it, the UFC is to blame for not getting a fight booked between McGregor and Edgar. Ali Abdel-Aziz took to Instagram to blast not only McGregor, but the UFC as well!
