Following his impressive first-round TKO victory over the previously undefeated Henry Cejudo at UFC 197, UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson stated the he was very interested in doing a “super-fight” with current bantamweight title holder Dominick Cruz. “The Dominator” and “Mighty Mouse” have already fought once under the UFC banner, with Cruz earning a five-round decision victory over Johnnson in October of 2011.

Ahead of Dominick Cruz’s UFC 199 title defense against his nemesis, Urijah Faber, Cruz had some choice words for his rival. After TJ Dillashaw left Team Alpha Male last year, things were understandably tense between Faber and Dillashaw given the fact that Faber was Dillashaw’s mentor at one point in time.

Back in January, Dominick Cruz returned to the Octagon and defeated TJ Dillashaw to reclaim the UFC bantamweight championship. Immediately following his win over Dillashaw, Cruz found himself being called out by his nemesis, Urijah Faber. The UFC ultimately opted to book Cruz vs. Faber III for UFC 199 on June 4th in Inglewood California. Ahead of that fight things have been tense between Cruz and Faber during media appearances. During an interview with MMAJunkie, Cruz put the bantamweight division on blast for its lack of depth.

Former UFC bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw was not very pleased when he caught wind that the UFC had booked a trilogy bout between Urijah Faber and Dominick Cruz instead of granting him an immediate rematch with “The Dominator”. The former Team Alpha Male fighter, Dillashaw, says despite his recent rivalry with Urijah he will still be rooting for the “California Kid” against newly crowned champion Dominick Cruz at UFC 199.

Several years ago Duane ‘Bang’ Ludwig was brought in as the striking coach at Team Alpha Male. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out between Ludwig and TAM owner Urijah Faber. Ludwig left and opened the ‘Bang Muay Thai HQ’ in Broomfield Colorado, and T.J. Dillashaw began spending part of his training camps training with the striking guru. Ultimately, Dillashaw left Team Alpha Male to train with Elevation Fight Team in Colorado, forcing a rift between himself and mentor Urijah Faber.

Earlier this month the UFC announced that a trilogy bout between Dominick Cruz vs. Urijah Faber would take place in the co-main event of UFC 199 in June. Faber won the pair’s first meeting under the WEC banner back in 2007, however it was Cruz who got the nod in 2011 to retain the UFC’s bantamweight championship.

At the UFC unstoppable press conference on Friday afternoon prior to the UFC 196 weigh-ins, UFC President Dana White revealed that Dominick Cruz will have his rubber match with Urijah Faber in the co-main event of UFC 199. There was much speculation as to who Cruz would defend his bantamweight championship against first after defeating TJ Dillashaw, and we now have our answer!

UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz has had a long time rivalry with Urijah Faber and he has been getting an absolute kick out of all the drama surrounding Faber’s camp at Team Alpha Male. A fall out between Faber and striking coach Duane Ludwig caused a rift between fighters with the former bantamweight champion Dillashaw leaving Team Alpha Male to join Ludwig at the Elevation Fight Team. Immediately after winning the title, Cruz found himself being called out by his nemesis Urijah Faber.
