Darren Till explains why he signed with BKFC: ‘It was irrefusable’

Darren Till has left Misfits Boxing and has signed with BKFC.

The former UFC welterweight title challenger opted to sign a multi-fight deal with BKFC, and announced on The Ariel Helwani Show that his debut will come against Aaron Chalmers on May 30 at BKFC 90 in Birmingham, England. Ahead of his debut, Till said BKFC’s offer was something he couldn’t turn down.

“The reason BKFC happened is because I couldn’t turn down the offer. It was irrefusable. The offer was laid out to me, and I was like, ‘Here’, and just signed on the dotted line,” Till said to Ariel Helwani. “It excited me, it got my juices flowing. It’s an old, tough sport from what I’ve watched over the years… They’re not like your traditional martial artists. They’re very gritty, hard-punching guys… You’ve got to come in with a different type of mentality, which we will be doing.”

Till believes the payday and what BKFC offered him is something he couldn’t say no to. So, he’s looking forward to fighting sans gloves.

Darren Till isn’t sure how long he’ll fight in BKFC

Although Darren Till was excited about what BKFC offered him, the Brit admitted he wasn’t sure how long he would fight for.

Instead, Till revealed he signed a three-fight deal, and those could be the only three fights he has in the promotion, as he is worried about the damage it can do to his face.

“I still don’t really want my face getting smashed up,” Till added. “I’m 33—I’m not the ugliest chap out there… It’s going to be one of those jobs: gear up, get in, get the belt, get out—unless they offer me extreme amounts of money. You can’t be doing 10 fights in this bare-knuckle game, you know what I mean? You’d be walking around with half your face hanging off. You’d be walking around like part of the Mongoloid gang.”

Since leaving the UFC, Till entered the boxing world and won the Misfits Birdgerweight belt with a KO win over Luke Rockhold. He also beat Darren Stewart by decision and Anthony Taylor by TKO in his Misfits debut.
