A superfight between WMMA superstar Cris Cyborg, and former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has always been just out of arms reach for MMA fans. Earlier this month, when UFC President Dana White announced that Rousey would be returning to the Octagon in December, over a year after suffering the first loss of her professional career at the hands of Holly Holm at UFC 193, White announced that in addition to returning for a championship fight with Amanda Nunes at UFC 207, Rousey was looking for a superfight with Cris Cyborg if she defeated Nunes at UFC 207.

Last month, Cyborg stepped into the Octagon to square off against Swedish striking phenom Lina Lansberg in the main event of UFC Brasilia. Cyborg, who admittedly had a brutal weight-cut throughout the course of the week, cutting the remaining 10 pounds in just 24 hours to make the catchweight limit of 141 pounds, once again stated after defeating Lansberg via TKO that she would not be able to cut down to the bantamweight limit of 135 pounds for a fight with Rousey.

The buzz surrounding Cris Cyborg’s cut down to 140-pounds for her catchweight fight against Lina Lansberg was one of the most talked about things leading up to UFC Fight Night 95 in Brazil. Early this morning, reigning Invicta featherweight champion Cris “Cyborg” Justino took to the scale to weigh in for her for sophomore UFC effort, a 140-lb. catchweight bout with Swedish striker Lina Lansberg. Despite plenty of doubt to the contrary, the Brazilian made weight, taking full advantage of the bout’s 1-lb. allowance and tipping the scale at 141. This, of course, is a major relief, as Lansberg suggested she would not take the fight if Cyborg failed to make the contracted weight.
