The idea of Conor McGregor moving up to fight Tyron Woodley for the welterweight title is surely a possibility with the way “The Notorious” has been working. Despite McGregor having a 1-1 UFC record at 170, the most recent welterweight title challenger, Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson feels that “The Notorious” isn’t physically big enough to compete with the UFC welterweights. McGregor has fought twice in the UFC at 170. However, both welterweight bouts were against Nate Diaz, who has spent most of his career in the UFC lightweight division.

In the wake of this win, McGregor revealed his plans to take some time off to father his first child with long-time girlfriend Dee Devlin. Earlier this month, in the main event of UFC 205, UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor cemented his place in the UFC history books when he TKOd Eddie Alvarez in the second round to claim the UFC lightweight strap, becoming the first man to simultaneously hold two championship belts in two weight classes. Several weeks prior to the fight, McGregor appeared at the UFC 205 pre-fight press conference, where he was asked who he would like to fight next if he defeated Alvarez. McGregor of course stirred up quite a bit of controversy when he stated that he was considering making the jump to boxing for a boxing match with Floyd Mayweather.

UFC superstar Conor McGregor made it known after his historic UFC 205 fight in New York this past weekend that he is looking for more than just a fight purse and piece of the pay-per-view buys. With his win over Eddie Alvarez at New York’s Madison Square Garden on Saturday night, McGregor made history by becoming the first fighter in the UFC to simultaneously hold status as the champion of two separate weight classes. During the post-fight press conference, “The Notorious” stated that he is waiting for a call from the new owners of the UFC to offer him shares in the company and it sounds like at least one of the celebrity investors is listening.

This past weekend on the UFC 205 fight card, Nurmagomedov picked up a spectacular 3rd round submission win over Michael Johnson, which not only included some horrific ground and pound, but also some mid-fight trash talk from Nurmagomedov, in which he told his opponent that he must give up. The win not only moved Nurmagomedov’s UFC record to 8-0, but also advanced his professional record to 24-0, earning him the #1 spot on the UFC’s official lightweight rankings.

Earlier this year the MMA community was left stunned as MMA veteran Nate Diaz not only defeated Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 196 on just two weeks notice, but also rocked and submitted the featherweight champ. McGregor, who appeared to gas early in the fight, was noticeably drained going into the second round, where Diaz managed to land a perfect 1-2 combination that wobbled McGregor. The Irish superstar then shot for a takedown, which Diaz stuffed, ultimately resulting in Diaz securing a rear naked choke win.
