On Wednesday, Conor McGregor saved a lot of money after his second hearing with the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC). The second hearing was for the water bottle war that took place between McGregor and team Nate Diaz at the UFC 202 pre-fight press conference.

‘Irish’ Joe Duffy was at one time one of the most watched prospects in the UFC. Prior to McGregor’s UFC 196 loss to Nate Diaz, Duffy was the last man to defeat McGregor, submitting the Irish superstar in the 1st round of their Cage Warriors 39 scrap in 2010. While Duffy is currently on a 2-fight win streak in the UFC, he is planning to test the free agency now that his UFC contract is up. Back in August, in the buildup to UFC 202, Irish superstar Conor McGregor and his arch rival Nate Diaz got into a heated press conference confrontation, pelting each other with water bottles, Monster Energy cans, and other improvised projectiles. This chaotic moment did not go over well with the fight’s sanctioning body, the Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC). Several months after this hectic ordeal, McGregor was handed a fairly significant punishment by the NSAC – a $75,000 fine, and 50 hours of community service, to be exact. Though this sum seems like it’s probably a drop in the bucket for the ultra-successful Irishman, he and his team were not satisfied with it, and pursued a re-hearing with the NSAC.

That has lead many to believe that McGregor stood a chance against undefeated boxing icon Floyd Mayweather. Despite being one of the most popular fighters on the UFC roster, Stockton, California’s Nate Diaz has not been seen in the cage since he gave up a competitive decision to Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 202 back in August. In a recent interview with TMZ, UFC President Dana White said that the UFC has attempted to correct Diaz’s long absence from the cage by making him several fight offers, but that he has turned them all down. The UFC boss then suggested that this is because Diaz is holding out for a third fight with McGregor.

Throughout the course of 2017, conflicting reports have continued to emerge regarding the status of a potential Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather boxing superfight. While offers have been made on both sides, neither party has been able to reach an agreement. With that being said, the NSAC revealed recently that they were aware of ongoing negotiations between the two parties. This was followed up by a statement from UFC President Dana White this week, in which he stated that he was confident a fight between McGregor and Mayweather would be official, saying:

Throughout the course of developments made in the Conor McGregor-Floyd Mayweather superfight negotiations, undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather has remained adamant the fact that he is truly retired from boxing. With news surfacing earlier this year from the NSAC that both parties have been making progress in negotiations, many believed a fight was all, but official. Mayweather and UFC President Dana White both then revealed that the fight was not close to being finalized. Mayweather released a statement in which he stated that he was truly retired and would keep fans updated if the status of his retirement changed.
