Conor McGregor reportedly reaches settlement in phone-smashing case

Last month, Irish MMA star Conor McGregor found himself in hot water after getting into an ugly altercation with a fan, and smashing that fan’s cell phone. After this incident, Ahmed Abdirzak, the owner of the phone, sought more than $15,000 in damages, accusing McGregor of battery, assault and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The incident was captured on video. In this video, McGregor could be seen stomping Abdirzak’s phone.

The legal troubles appear to be continuing for former UFC lightweight and featherweight champion Conor McGregor. According to The Mirror, the Irish MMA star is being accused of assaulting a fellow patron inside a bar called the Marble Arch in the Drimnagh suburb of his native Dublin, Ireland. The news was first reported by Dizz on Twitter.

Conor McGregor's Charges Reduced For Cell Phone Incident

According to court records per MMAJunkie, prosecutors have reduced two charges against Conor McGregor in his alleged incident with a fan and his cellphone outside a Miami nightclub last month. The Irish superstars previous charge of a felony has been reduced to a misdemeanor, which means the potential maximum sentence would only be six years as opposed to 20-years which police were pushing for. According to police records, the SBG Ireland standout allegedly slapped a phone out of a fans hand after he was trying to take a photo of McGregor picture around 5 a.m. on March 11. McGregor then stomped on the phone several times.

Paulie Malignaggi has been itching to fight Conor McGregor for close to two years. As of yet, however, all he’s gotten is an ongoing Twitter beef, and the potential for a bare knuckle fight with McGregor’s training partner Artem Lobov. After a recent skirmish with Artem Lobov at a media day in New York City, Paulie Malignaggi says he’s no longer worried about Conor McGregor whatsoever, because he believes the Irishman is scared. Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov’s online trash-talk took a turn for the worse yesterday. The two sent personal attacks back and forth, where both went after each others families, with McGregor also seemingly taking a shot at Nurmagomedov’s religion. It got so bad that UFC President, Dana White issued a statement that the UFC would speak to both camps about their behavior to try and stop it from continuing.

When Conor McGregor made his return to the Octagon at UFC 229 to take on Khabib Nurmagomedov it was the biggest pay-per-view in the UFC’s history.
