Usman’s performance garnered a ton of praise from fellow fighters and the MMA community as a whole.

The good news is that they seem destined to settle their sizzling beef in the very near future. Speaking on his Instagram account recently, the champ Tyron Woodley updated on his recovery and named the ideal timeframe for his title unification with Colby Covington.

While the card’s headlining spot was ultimately filled by a heavyweight title fight between champ Daniel Cormier and challenger Derrick Lewis, there were reportedly also discussions of a welterweight main event between interim champ Colby Covington and Nick Diaz. While Colby Covington says he would have been willing to fight Nick Diaz in the UFC 230 main event, the fight never came together. And now he says Diaz has missed his chance.

One of the options for the main event of the upcoming UFC 230 card was a welterweight title fight between champion Tyron Woodley and interim champion Colby Covington. With Covington healthy, and Woodley riding a huge win over Darren Till, the fight seemed to make a lot of sense. Furthermore, Woodley said he was open to fighting Covington at UFC 230, so long as he was given a clean bill of health. Unfortunately, he was then forced to go under the knife to repair an injured hand, ruling out this possibility. Well, Colby Covington isn’t buying it.

Moments after the fight ended, Khabib Nurmagomedov leapt over the cage and attacked Conor McGregor’s training partner Dillon Danis, which sparked a massive brawl between his and McGregor’s teams.

Unfortunately, we then learned that Tyron Woodley’s thumb is in pretty bad shape, and that he will need surgery as a result, which effectively rules out a fight with Colby Covington at UFC 230.
