EXCLUSIVE | Colby Covington says he’s almost ready for WWE, wants tag team match with Ronda Rousey in the future

By Tom Taylor - October 5, 2018

Having already established himself as one of MMA’s premier fighters, Colby Covington is now hoping that he’ll have the chance to prove himself as a top pro wrestler in the future too.

Covington has made no secret of his pro wrestling goals in the past, but on episode 100 of BJPENN.CMOM Radio, he divulged that the wheels are already in motion for a future WWE move.

“The gears are moving,” Colby Covington said of a future move to WWE. “Vince McMahon, he knows who I am, everybody in the WWE Organization loves what I’m doing. I’m doing WWE better than they’re doing it over there. I got Dan Lambert, my agent, the best agent in the game, from the best gym in the world, American Top Team. He is talking to Vince, talking to WWE and something’s gonna happen.”

“We’ve obviously been putting it off because we want this next fight,” he added. “I am so motivated, hungry for my next fight, all I care about is my next fight, defending my belt and destroying Tyron Woodley and putting him out to pasture. That’s the number one, top of the priority list. Then after that I’m ready for WWE.”

If Colby Covington does migrate to WWE in the future, he will not be the first UFC fighter to do so. Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey has also moved to the pro wrestling arena with great results, and Covington has taken notice. In fact, he’s hoping to compete on a tag team with Ronda Rousey in the future.

“I gotta give a shout out to Ronda Rousey,” He said. “I hope WWE is going fun [for her]. One of theses days we gotta get a tag team match going against Stephanie McMahon, Triple H. That’ the plan down the road. WWE, we coming. Gonna be a crossover star.”

Do you think we’ll ever see Colby Covington wrestling for WWE?
