Lance Gibson Jr. will be too well rounded for Chase Hooper, per ex-UFC vet who never saw the hype behind Hooper

Chase Hooper prepares to return to the UFC cage against Lance Gibson Jr. at UFC Seattle, with a Canadian combative compatriot, who previously indicated a desire to fight Hooper when he was signed to the UFC off of Contender Series, weighing in on that fight.

The combatant in question is TJ Laramie who got into the machinations of the matchup between Gibson Jr. and Hooper for UFC’s return to Seattle on March 28th, as Laramie said [via MMA Canada],

“Honestly, I don’t know too much about the Lance Gibson guy personally. But he did do pretty good against Bobby Green. I did watch that fight. I thought it was a pretty close fight. I don’t know. I don’t really see the hype behind Chase Hooper. He’s another guy, he has a couple good weapons, and I just never really understood why he got promoted the way he did. You know what I mean? He’s not like; I don’t ever see this guy being a top 15, you know?”

“I don’t; he’s just kind of something that the UFC felt like promoting and still feel like promoting. They’re giving him; I don’t know how many fights he’s into the UFC, but they’re giving him a guy who’s only got one UFC fight and coming off a loss.”

TJ Laramie sees ways that Chase Hooper can fall short to Lance Gibson Jr. at UFC: Adesanya vs. Pyfer

Further delving into his thoughts on how UFC has handled Chase Hooper over the years and how things will shake out when he faces the former Bellator MMA product in what is Gibson Jr.’s sophomore UFC outing, as TJ mentioned, with Laramie continuing [via MMA Canada],

“It seems strange to me [how UFC matchmakes Hooper]. So, but yeah, I honestly have no idea. I think this Lance Gibson guy seems pretty solid all around.”

“So, I think he’s going to get underestimated in this fight against Chase Hooper. Cuz Chase Hooper always seems to kind of lose to the guys that are a little bit well-rounded. That don’t really have too many glaring holes in their game. So, we’ll see.”
