UFC welterweight star Carlos Prates believes he can earn a world title opportunity with a win over Jack Della Maddalena.

At UFC Perth in just a few days, Carlos Prates will attempt to pick up one of the biggest wins of his career thus far when he faces off against Jack Della Maddalena. Many believe that if he wins, the Brazilian sensation should receive a crack at the UFC welterweight champion, whether it be Islam Makhachev or Ian Machado Garry following their heavily rumored showdown.

At this point in time, Prates is carrying a lot of confidence into his next outing – and rightfully so. He is fighting with the kind of intensity and freedom that you would want from someone in his position, and it’s easy to understand why fans are so interested in seeing him at the world championship level.

In a recent interview, Prates had the following to say about potentially getting a shot at the gold with a win over Della Maddalena.

Prates looks ahead to possible title shot

“Yeah, it’s gonna be cool, you know? I have good memories in that arena,” Prates told MMA Junkie. “I have a bonus already there, and I hope to get another one.”

“I don’t think the fight’s gonna go five rounds, but if it’s there, I’m gonna be ready,” Prates said. “I’m ready for everything.”

“Nobody gonna beat two former champs in a row, and for sure I will be the next,” Prates said. “… I mean, I will be the next after August. Islam gonna fight Ian, and then after that, I’m gonna get the winner.”

It’s certainly not a guarantee that he will defeat JDM, but you can bet Carlos will come with everything he’s got when he fights down under this weekend.
