Mark Hunt reacts to Brock Lesnar's one year suspension

Earlier this week, former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar received his punishment from the Nevada State Athletic Commission for his pair of failed drug tests surrounding his UFC 200 fight with Mark Hunt back in July. After it was announced in June that Lesnar would be returning to the Octagon to fight Hunt at UFC 200 in July, it was also revealed that the UFC had waived the mandatory testing period a fighter must go through in order to become eligible in the eyes of USADA. That didn’t sit too well with many fight fans, and USADA responded by testing Lesnar several times over the course of one week.

Earlier this year, former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar made his return to the Octagon after five years away from the Octagon. Lesnar fought fan-favorite heavyweight Mark Hunt, and while the fight was a highly anticipated one, the month leading to the bout wasn’t without controversy. It was announced at UFC 199 that Lesnar would fight Hunt at UFC 200, which was just one month away. It was revealed that Lesnar had been given an exemption from the mandatory testing period a fighter must go through in order to become eligible in the eyes of USADA.

Tim Kennedy has been left without an opponent for the second UFC pay-per-view event in a row. Kennedy was scheduled to fight former UFC light heavyweight champion Rashad Evans at UFC 205 in New York earlier this month. However, Evans was unable to get a license to fight from the New York State Athletic Commission due to “irregular findings” from an MRI, according to Evans.

That’s precisely what happened on Sunday night, when Lesnar stepped into the WWE ring with Bill Goldberg. Moments into the match, Goldberg knocked the former UFC champ to the mat. As a bewildered Lesnar returned to his feet, Goldberg speared him back down onto the canvas. Then came a second spear, and a Jackhammer for the win. It was a downright domination, and it all went down in less time than it takes to warm up a Hot Pocket.

Last July, in the co-main event of UFC 200, former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar made a successful return to the Octagon with a unanimous decision defeat of Mark Hunt. Given that Hunt has long stood out as one of the UFC’s 10-best heavyweights, and that Lesnar had not competed in mixed martial arts almost five years, this was a pretty impressive feat. Regrettably, it was later announced that Lesnar had failed both in-competition and out-of-competition drug tests. The former champ popped for the substance clomiphene, an estrogen blocker often used to counterbalance the testosterone boost caused by steroid use. This unfortunate twist stamped a big, ugly asterisk beside his defeat of Hunt.

The ongoing saga of former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar’s failed drug test continues! Lesnar made his triumphant return to the Octagon back in July, however there was some controversy surrounding his return. When it was announced in June that Lesnar would be returning to the Octagon at UFC 200, it was also revealed that Lesnar had been granted an exemption from the four-month period of testing to become an eligible fighter in the eyes of USADA. The move was certainly a controversial one, with many other fighters questioning the fact that Lesnar was granted an exemption.

Prior to UFC 200, it was revealed that former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar was coming out of retirement to fight heavyweight veteran Mark Hunt on the main card of the historic event. While Lesnar’s return was generally celebrated amongst the MMA community, it was met with a certain amount of controversy. Ordinarily, before a retired fighter can fight, they must go through a 4-month mandatory testing period with USADA before they are eligible to fight.

In the wake of UFC 202, the NSAC has ruled to officially extend Brock Lesnar’s temporary suspension. Lesnar, who defeated Mark Hunt via unanimous decision on the main card of UFC 200, failed an out of competition drug test prior to the fight, as well as a fight night drug test.

Earlier today news broke that current UFC interim light heavyweight champion Jon Jones had been removed from the UFC rankings. Well two other former UFC title holders were also removed from the UFC ranking over the weekend, as both Brock Lesnar and Lyoto Machida are no longer listed.

Brock Lesnar’s successful UFC 200 return may be tarnished from his pair of failed drug tests, however the WWE will not be punishing the former UFC champ for his infractions in the combat sports world. Lesnar failed a random drug test back in June prior to his UFC 200 clash with Mark Hunt, and also failed a fight night drug test on July 9th, the night of UFC 200. While he will likely find himself suspended by the NSAC for the infractions, he won’t face repercussions in the WWE world.

Hunt was upset, to say the least that the news came out after the fight took place and demanded that he receive Brock Lesnar’s fight purse or be immediately released from the UFC.
