Belal Muhammad slams Colby Covington with four-word message after suing Jorge Masvidal

Former UFC champion Belal Muhammad blasted Colby Covington on social media after the controversial star sued Jorge Masvidal.

One of the UFC’s most heated rivalries, featuring former teammates-turned-enemies Colby Covington and Jorge Masvidal, took a fascinating turn this week in a Miami-area courtroom.

According to multiple reports, Covington is suing Masvidal in excess of $100,000 in damages stemming from an incident just weeks after their fight at UFC 272. After Covington attended a dinner at a Miami-area restaurant, Masvidal attacked Covington outside of the venue, causing numerous injuries to Covington’s face.

Masvidal pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor battery charge stemming from the incident in 2023 after agreeing to a plea agreement with his legal team. Four years after the incident, Covington says he continues to deal with ‘bodily injury resulting in pain/suffering, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss of capacity for the enjoyment of life, and the inability to earn money’.

Covington has made many enemies during his polarizing UFC career, which includes ending friendships with the likes of Dustin Poirier and Masvidal. One of Covington’s other longtime detractors, former UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad, didn’t take long to react to the news of his legal battles.

Belal Muhammad mocks Colby Covington over reported Jorge Masvidal suit

In a recent tweet, Muhammad reacted to the news of Covington’s lawsuit against Masvidal.

“[LAUGHS] These streamers are soft,” Muhammad tweeted.

Muhammad is referring to Covington’s growing presence on Kick and YouTube in recent months, amidst his ongoing UFC hiatus. Covington hasn’t fought since a TKO loss to Joaquin Buckley in December 2024, and recently missed out on the upcoming White House card.

Muhammad repeatedly called out Covington during their UFC careers, including after securing the welterweight belt at UFC 304 against Leon Edwards. He’ll return to the cage against surging contender Gabriel Bonfim in June in a massive UFC Fight Night headliner.
