Arnold Allen discusses possible title shot if he can defeat Jean Silva

Arnold Allen has discussed the possibility of him getting a world title shot if he can defeat Jean Silva at UFC 324.

While he may have been inactive for quite some time through injury, Arnold Allen is still a real player in the UFC’s featherweight division. Of course, he needs to go out there and prove that, which he’ll hope to go out there and do against Jean Silva on Saturday night.

Silva is an unpredictable guy, whereas Allen can fluctuate between chaos (see his Max Holloway and Dan Hooker fights) and control. Whatever the case may be this weekend, ‘Almighty’ knows there’s a lot at stake, especially with how stacked things are starting to look at 145 pounds.

In a recent interview, Allen gave his thoughts on the fight and possibly securing a world title opportunity at some point in the future.

Allen looks ahead to possible title shot

“With this one, it was the only time I’ve actually had to step back and not train,” Allen told MMA Junkie and other reporters at Wednesday’s media day. “The other ones, I wasn’t necessarily injured, you know? I ain’t going to go into it, but things that aren’t in my hands.”

“The other layoffs I’ve had, I was ready the whole year,” Allen said. “It was a lot of like scheduling, and, ‘Now we’re going to the UK in six months. We’ll put you in there.’ So, if I keep doing that and stay ready, I’m a bit more of a name now than I was then.

“So, I think I deserve a bit more than just the London slot once a year. Like here I am opening up a Paramount numbered card, and there’s a reason I got that spot. The last few fights have been pay-per-views and kind of similar positions.”

“It’s literally freshly proven that beating Jean Silva gets you a title fight, right?” Allen said. “So, I don’t know. The numbers next to your name literally do not mean a thing.”
