Alex Pereira will be on the UFC White House card, says Chael Sonnen

MMA analyst Chael Sonnen has explained why he believes Alex Pereira will be part of the UFC White House card.
As we know, Alex Pereira is easily one of the biggest stars in all of mixed martial arts – and perhaps in the entirety of combat sports. His run since arriving in the UFC has been nothing short of remarkable, and even at this point in his career, he still seems to have a bright future ahead of him.

One of the big questions, of course, is whether that future will be at light heavyweight, where he currently holds the gold, or up at heavyweight. Pereira hasn’t been shy about his desire to move up, and if he does, he could have the opportunity to become the first-ever three-weight world champion in the promotion’s history.
In a recent video on his channel, Chael Sonnen gave his thoughts on Pereira possibly popping up at the White House this summer.
Sonnen’s view on Pereira at UFC White House
“I am very confident in telling you Alex Pereira is going to be on the White House card,” Sonnen said on his YouTube channel. “Question comes: Against who? Alex Pereira is the (light heavyweight) champion of the world, but there is no conversation about Alex and (Carlos) Ulberg. There’s nobody else at 205 pounds that would make sense.
“So I believe that Alex is going to come out and he’s going to be a heavyweight on the White House card. I also believe he’s going to take on Ciryl Gane. I also believe if you take a sitting world champion and you move him weight classes and he fights, it’s not just because. It’s for a belt, so this is where the idea of the interim title comes from.”
“If Pereira is going to go to heavyweight then he needs to be a heavyweight,” Sonnen said. “I don’t think Pereira would disagree with me. I don’t think that Pereira would have a problem giving the 205-pound belt back. …I don’t think it’s bad if they fight for the interim championship at all.
“I think that’s great. I do think if Pereira and Ciryl fight, there’s got to be a belt. It needs to be scheduled for a potential five rounds. Pereira is the champion of the world. If the champion of the world fights, a championship of the world’s got to be on the line. That can be the interim.”
