In a since-deleted tweet, Conor McGregor has claimed that he’s been offered both a date and an opponent for his UFC return.

For the longest time now, fight fans have been waiting to see what’s next for Conor McGregor. While he hasn’t competed in mixed martial arts for nearly five years, the Irishman is still considered to be one of the biggest stars of the sport.

Of course, it’s worth noting that McGregor has faced plenty of issues outside of the cage, which has seriously harmed his public image. Still, that doesn’t tend to bother the UFC too much, and we’re pretty sure Dana White is still interested in putting the former two-weight world champion back in there to fight.

In a tweet that has now been deleted, McGregor suggested that we could be getting closer to a fight announcement.

“I have been offered an opponent and a date and I accept. Waiting on my contract.”

In terms of who exactly it could be, there are plenty of options out there – some of which are more feasible than others. Quite a few people have suggested that he will finally lock horns with Michael Chandler, but Dana White didn’t seem to be too interested in that idea when he was last asked about it.

Perhaps Conor will finally have his trilogy fight against Nate Diaz, with their series currently tied up at 1-1. Another option is Jorge Masvidal, but who knows, maybe there’s something even more outlandish on the horizon.
