Alex Pereira looks ahead to his future in the UFC amid Jon Jones uncertainty

UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira has spoken openly about his future in the promotion.
It’s safe to say that right now, Alex Pereira is one of the biggest stars in mixed martial arts – and perhaps in combat sports as a whole. The two-weight world champion has everyone talking about him, especially in the wake of his epic victory over Magomed Ankalaev in their recent rematch.

In terms of what’s next for Pereira, a lot of fans and pundits want to see him be part of the upcoming UFC White House card this summer. Whether or not he’s involved, though, may depend entirely on what kind of opponent they can provide for him, with rumblings of Jon Jones being a possible foe in the future.
In a recent interview, Pereira had the following to say about the next chapter of his career, and Jones’ arthritis claims.
Pereira looks ahead to his future
“I think every athlete has chronic injuries, serious injuries,” Pereira said in an interview with Valter Walker’s YouTube channel. “If a high-level athlete says something like that, for the history he has, it’s not new to me.”
“Whoever they put in front of me, I’ll be fighting,” Pereira said. “I love fighting, so it doesn’t matter weight classes — of course, if you say middleweight I can’t make that anymore. At the other two divisions, light heavyweight and heavyweight, [the opponent] is indifferent to me.”
“I think that everybody there, at least the ranked ones, have a chance [of winning] at any moment,” Pereira said. “They’re beating each other up, so they’re the best. From No. 10 up, any fighter you put in there is dangerous. It’s a fight. There’s plenty of people — maybe not relevant names, but I don’t care about that. If you train and you’re ranked and you want to fight, let’s fight.”
