The mysterious RIZIN 14 showdown between undefeated boxing legend Floyd Mayweather and 20-year-old kickboxing sensation Tenshin Nasukawa is apparently back on. According to Mayweather, however, it will merely be a boxing exhibition… just three, three-minute rounds of “moving around” for yet another mammoth payday.  While Floyd Mayweather seems to think this fight with Tenshin Nasukawa will be little more than a light sparring session, Bellator star and MMA analyst Chael Sonnen is imploring the pugilist to be a little more discerning.

It’s been a bit of a weird ride in the build-up to RIZIN 14 as it gets its main event sorted out. But that main event will indeed end up being a collision between all-time boxing great, Floyd Mayweather and superstar Japanese kickboxing prodigy, Tenshin Nasukawa. After Mayweather called the fight off due to being ‘completely blindsided‘, RIZIN apologized for the confusion and promised some clarity soon. Well, we now have that clarity.

Floyd Mayweather vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov could still happen. If the fight between the undefeated boxer and undefeated mixed martial artist does happen, well, the rules would seem to be quite simple. Every year since their existence, Rizin Fighting Federation has held their biggest events on New Year’s Eve. This blockbuster fight is expected to occur at RIZIN 14, inside Tokyo, Japan’s hallowed Saitama Super Arena on New Years Eve. Rizin will officially announce this news at a press conference that is unfolding presently in Tokyo, and broadcasting on the promotion’s YouTube channel. Tenshin Nasukawa will be present at this press conference, as will Floyd Mayweather, who recently arrived in Japan on his private jet.

Ever since UFC lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov defeated Conor McGregor in the main event of UFC 229 earlier this month, there’s been talk of a potential rematch between the two stars. That being said, UFC President Dana White claims this is not the current plan. “I haven’t even thought about a [McGregor] rematch,” White told ESPN. “Obviously, I know Conor wants a rematch. We need to do what’s right and what’s fair. We’ll see how it plays out. We literally haven’t thought about it yet.”
